Ibiza Rocks House Opens at Pikes

Looks exactly the same as the Marakkesh Suite of old? Have they actually done anything with it?

The hotel generally has had a proper facelift - doesn't feel old or tired any more and has finally been brought back to life. The security and staff were some of the nicest and most respectful I've seen anywhere.

Re the old Suite - main thing is it's got more people in it - and about time too (was a bit like being in a Mausoleum as a hotel room)..

Preserved most of it - the original bathroom's still there but roped off if I remember right, the bar's fully stocked and attended, the bed's getting bounced on (only a matter of time before a proper scandal methinks :p ...) and the decks are getting spun. It's a perfect place for after-parties - open 24hours a day, numbers limited to what the place can tolerate and the volumes are set so it's loud enough to feel like a party but you can actually hold a proper conversation. I had serious doubts before seeing it in action, but the way they've set it up it actually works.

Gets the big tick.

re the security and staff

Ibiza Rocks is a very forward-looking brand - tends to attract a younger crowd to the gigs, clearly different music policy to most of the rest. Was lucky enough to meet some of the faces behind it this week and I was very impressed. They employ all their own security so the attitude is much more relaxed than many places, but in a good way. They bought the old Pikes hotel near San An and up there you're treated like Royalty - this is the real deal, not a "Virgin Rockstar" joke of a 'VIP service'. Bumped into the doorman just after 6am yesterday in the middle of San An as I walking out of a club - he'd met me once and greeted me by name. That's pretty special.

The town hotel/old Bar M is pitched in line with the taget market - bar's not cheap but not up to Ushuaia/Pacha/Bora Bora post-4.30pm prices.

Ibiza Rocks have scored some very impressive line-ups for an organization with a small fixed capacity. This is a testament to how they're perceived in the business and how they run their operation.

nah, plenty of people got their picture taken inside the bathtub..... things actually went wild and wet in there last wednesday ! !

Yay - Where was the camera then, eh ? Or are those shots hiding in the McRakin 'private collection'

kylie minogue, james corden and taio cruz were some of the celebs spotted at the ibiza rocks house last night.....

So what's the scratch there folks? I'm making dinner reservations there for our last evening - can you stay on and drink at the bar afterwards and get involved in any party action that might take place or is that strictly for residents & VIPs?

Thanks x

strictly for the bands, VIP's and Ibiza Rocks House residents according to their website, but if you ask nicely i'm sure they'll let you in.....

Thanks Mac. Will give it a go :D

Note to self: ensure "aura of sophistication" rather than "smell of poverty" is in place that evening

a little birdie tells me it's actually working so well they plan to continue with it throughout the winter..... sunday roast in the sun with antz+guests and then, when it gets chilly, move to freddie's bar till late, sounds like a good plan to me!! :p

sounds like the time to come out to me !!! :p

(Remember Antz from the WAG club and the Milk Bar back in the day - he was resident at some of my first ever clubbing nights :))
