Ibiza Rocks presents a free concert in collaboration with the Town Hall of Sant Antoni, as part of the Sant Bartomeu celebrations.

The line-up for the concert includes the hotly-tipped UK indie band, The Pangs as well as a performance from Paco Fernandez and his Gente del Sol. Ibiza Rocks’ resident DJ Nicola Bear also confirmed to play between the live acts.

The one-off gig takes place this Saturday 22nd August from 21.00h til 00.30hrs. Entrance is free.

THE PANGS

The general opinion on the scene right now of this five piece from Brighton, is that they have the potential to become one of the hottest new acts on the current UK indie scene, with critics already hailing them as the new Primal Scream. The Pangs are Jim Wood, Steve Young, Phil Anvil, Phil Marten and "Eldge" and between them they form one of the most exciting surprises on the current musical scene. Their sound is a crossover of guitar and electronica with influences including Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai and bodes well for a hazy summers evenings entertainment in Ibiza as part of the Sant Bartomeu festivities in the town of Samt Antoni.
The music media have already hailed the talents of lead vocalist and composer Jim Wood, who they says ‘leaves the listener captivated by his splendidand spontaneous graceful tones’.

Without a doubt, their debut gig on the island this weekend as part of the Ibiza Rocks collaboration with the Sant Antoni Town Hall as part of their annual celebrations in honour of Sant Bartomeu, is a date for the diary of any live music lover.

PACO FERNANDEZ and GENTE DEL SOL

Over the years, Paco Fernandez has become something of a household name on the island of Ibiza and indeed, word of his talent has spread throughout the world, thanks to his enormous talent and ability to fuse his flamenco roots with any number of other musical genres. During his twenty years playing with the Municipal Band of Ibiza, he became practiced in the art of improvisation and has learnt how to adapt his musical style to both the passing of time and the environment around him. He follows a simple rule ~ ‘keep open to change’ and employs that train of thought not only in his music but also in his daily life. It is that same philosophy that has helped take his career from strength to strength on and off the island and nowadays, Paco Fernandez has a track record that is greatly respected and admired, consistent with circumstance and suitable for all audiences.
Whilst his career is inextricably linked with the world-famous CafÈ del Mar, he has also performed in a number of other venues and parties across the island; from Las Dalias to Kumharas, Villa Mercedes to Manumission. It could be said that his roots lie in Flamenco but his soul embraces the wider musical picture. He believes that the music of Ibiza should help the listener feel the story, not just hear it..
This Saturday in Ibiza, Paco Fernandez takes to the Ibiza Rocks stage, alongside his group of diverse musicians and performers~ La Gente del Sol: Steve Fern·ndez (producer, vocals, rap, dj); Eva Redondo (dance); Juanma Redondo (piano, keyboards); Cathy Battistessa (vocals; Mati Gonz·lez (vocals, percussion); Chema Pellico (bass); Yama Karim (Spanish ‘tabla’), Fernando Gasull (percussion) and Paco Romero (guitars and vocals).
