Just seen this on the news section of the spotlight main page:

Ibiza Jazz Festival

Here is the line up for the Ibiza Jazz Festival which will take place at the Baluarte de Santa Lucía in the old town at 22.00 each evening.

Tuesday 27 July: Dolc Tab Jazz Project & Ángel Rubio JazzJondo

Wednesday 28 July: Zafari Project & Solid!

Thursday 29 July: Liftoff & Esbjörn Svensson Trio

Friday 30 July: John Pinone & Baldo Martínez Grupo

Saturday 31 July: José Alberto Medina Trío & Roy Hargrove's RH Factor

Admission is free on the first night and €8 for each other night. A special €25 ticket can be purchased from the on site ticket office (open from 19.00 each night) which gives admission to all the concerts.

I like a bit of jazz, but would like to know a bit more about these artists and their styles... Can anyone help?

Be a nice warm-up before hopping on a boat across to El Divino for a meal on the terrace and an evening at Defected!!

Mackie is correct Roy rocks.

his latest album incorporates the tonal/relaxed sounds (which were obviously influenced by miles davis) from his first major album 'family' with more upbeat jazz and funk and dare we say hip hop on this one track site! Roy's rhythm section really pumps the beat along with brass riffs straight from fred and maceo's book of hot licks. If james brown had been a rapper this is what he would have sounded like. i can't wait to see him live!
 
today during my morning walk along dalt vila i noticed that the huge scenario is almost
ready - cant wait cant wait!! :P

now i understand why they were described as probably the best jazz trio in the world!! 8)

among other famous faces last night i spotted in the crowd the dj cesar de melero (amnesia)!! :o

Superb Jazz.
All last week saw the annual Jazz festival taking place in Ibiza Town. The stage was set in the
old part of Ibiza Town in an area known as the "Baluarte de Santa Lucia" & this provided a
great backdrop to a spectacular week of jazz performances. Featuring top musicians & bands
from all over the world, the local jazz lovers were treated to some of the best live performances
of a multitude of different styles of jazz ranging from brilliant concerts by big bands & jazz
singers through to traditional jazz trios or experimental jazz groups, flamenco jazz quartets &
onto jazz rock outfits. Spectacular lighting, crystal clear sound & superb musicianship led to a
series of concerts that all music lovers on the island are likely to remember for a long time.

as every year radio 3 (105.7) recorded all the concerts and will broadcast them during december on discópolis (monday to friday from 4pm) :!:

on march 15th it starts in the bar can pou an exposition by juan blanco with 35 b/w pictures taken at the injuve jazz festival
in dalt vila last year which, on its opening day, will include a jazz band playing live from 8pm!! :D

the pictures will be exposed during one month!! :idea:
