ibiza gossip 2025

The cafeteria La Guay in San An has been taken over by Ibiza Rocks :!:

Great location between their hotel in town and the petrol station right on the corner with Avda. Isidoro Macabich... you read it here first, btw!
Told ya!

the question isn't what's better, the question is what's different.

cocoon have always been pretty clear that they will open up their sonic horizon up to a certain extent, but not more than that.
pyramid have tried many things soundwise and are still doing so. some of it with success, some less sucessful.

for example, cocoon putting up hard techno line ups as pyramid does nowadays simply wouldn't be cocoon in today's day and age, end of the story.

cocoon have realised that if they wanted to keep doing a weekly residency, they would have to open up to sounds and artists that just aren't cocoon, since the artists apart from sven that brough the night the punters (carola, hawtin, luciano, RV etc) have simply mostly started doing their own thing.

in short, cocoon simply realised they would have to change into something they don't want to to keep having a successful weekly residency.

Very few DJ's stayed to their sound or made minimum changes, Sven is one of them.

Even his friends carola and hawtin changed their sound alot.

And the third, luciano, is forgotten in the recent years.

Agree to disagree I guess.

I am not of the mindset that Cocoon would have to book the exact same DJs that play Pyramid (or same style) to survive.

I think there is a hefty overlap between circo loco lineups and cocoon lineups (either ibiza past or international events over recent years), and that leads me to believe that Cocoon could exist if it did not have circo loco to compete with.

Circo Loco has evolved so much...ok they still have a few residents from the old days but the max set there is 2 hours and they program 2.5 rooms weekly for 5+ months....that's 12-15 dj's per week....always a nod to the past but the line ups are very upfront when you really break them down.

Cocoon was always based around 4 or 5 dj's and maybe a live act per week...Ricardo and Raresh still appear to pull a crowd in the terrace for pyramid but Amnesia is a massive club to fill week in week out...

I think there is another at least small factor, which is that Sven himself used to be so wild, and his energy so infectious... I think becoming a father again settled him down somewhat. The energy of a Sven party was so much more electric 15-20 years ago, and the afterparties were legendary. That is something that probably could never come back

I have absolutely zero insider info, but i personally wouldn't be surprised if Cocoon goes back to one party next year instead of the two this year.

I say that - as Stivi does - as a huge Cocoon fan.

Those parties are a lot of fun and you can can see how much they mean to everybody. But don't forget, what you don't see that we often get more of an insight of, is the stress that goes with putting these parties on.

Let me explain a little...

Last year, Cocoon had that whole week to themselves at 528 - there was nothing either side of them.

This year, in-house alone, they went up against SHINE the next day and two underground parties on Friday and Sunday that would surely have taken a lot of younger clubbers away from them.

Now, you may think "those crowds don't overlap - they're different audiences" - and you'd be correct up to a point.

But to have a successful party on Ibiza, you need your casuals. They are the difference maker.

Even people on this forum will have thought "I'd usually go to Cocoon, but I think I'll go to check out SHINE instead" last week. Facts.

And so we have a situation, where 528 is competing with itself - as well as all the other clubs, in a summer where it's super competitive.

Might be a controversial opinion but Kevin and Perry last night was one of the worst I’ve been to. Musically it was bloody awful. Tried to get in to the terrace to see if it was any better but they had stopped letting people in to the discotheque and it looked like carnage in there too so I stayed put. Oakenfold put the final nail in the coffin for us and we bailed at around 3ish.

I guess the only positive was the number of people I bumped in to who I knew! Was nice to see @Sheffrb again - sorry I never made it back, trying to push through everywhere was a nightmare.

Not sure I’ll be back to this event again sadly.

Shows how different people think completely different things at the same event. I thought it was much better than last year :D In fact I was a bit bored last year and we were maybe going to do do something different this year. Front left near the toilets is always a good spot for air con and bar for future reference

Looking at booking for 2026, Tuesday 26th May - Sunday 1st June. How active do we expect the island to be this time of year? I went similar dates last year but was propped up by UNVRS opening party... Do we expect UNVRS residencies to start earlier this year? And what about the rest more generally, will Pacha be fully going again this time of year? Any help would be appreciated.

While it's still too early to say right now, I think that might be quite a nice time to come and could end up being busier than the month that follows.

I would expect Pacha to be up and running seven nights a week. I'd also expect UNVRS to open IMS weekend (end of April) next year and while it might be too early for some residencies, I would think they do something on that weekend at the very least. As for trying to second guess what everything else looks like though...

Cheers think we are just gonna take a punt on it, was nicely busy last year but not chocker and my friend can only go very specific dates with his job. Coming back 330 pp for 5 nights so worth a go.

Well I actually was at both Cocoon parties this year. Amnesia terrace in May was completely packed to the rafters, and 528 likewise from 9pm onwards. I don't see any reason why they would not do both parties again next year, and rightly so.
Who doesn't put on a party because there are other events at the same venue in that week?! I do not get that argument.

Which one was more successful? The May or September date?
