Gutted about Sankeys/Octan - was a clubbing institution back in the day and was a great night last year, just assumed it wasn't packed out due to early season - surely there's a strong market out there for it to be resurrected properly??
is there anything similar that anyone knows of? we're over for the annual pilgrimage on 18th June and fancy a change to Glitterbox (albeit with a great line-up for the day we arrive) but we've done it for the last 2 years now.
Gutted about Privilege too - never got to experience it sadly and i hope theres someone out there with deep enough pockets to resurrect it

Seems Ibiza Clubbing is changing and i'm not sure its for the better, gone are the sweaty dance pits with driving bass and people living in the moment - its all about the "Socials" now and don't get me started on people using phones and filming/insta-face-tubing
We should resurrect Sankeys as a "No Phone" club and give the clubbing purists a safe haven without being blinded by someones camera flash while they're taking a selfie which they delete 30secs later

Would love that idea and sure there would be demand for it, but the big problem is us normal riff raff spending say 20euros a ticket and say 10euros per drink isnt bringing in anywhere near what the rich are on their expensive tables. So owners are favouring the latter and that means the island we love is continuing to change.

I’ve got nothing against the new age clubbers (aside of missing half the night because they’re too busy “insta-face-snap-tiktubing”) but sadly I miss the atmosphere and the “in the moment” nature of the older club nights (and then having a hard time figuring what the bloody hell went on while walking home chatting about space and planets to a stranger)
I’d love a venue in Ibiza that captured that old school vibe as there’s a big enough market for it on the island for sure.
A venue like Sankeys/Octan is screaming to be rescued and due to its size, I would have thought it would take a ridiculous amount to get it back on the map with some up and coming names supported by a established oldschool headline like Steve Lawler.
It’s getting a bit boring and tame with the likes of Guetta/Prydz/Van Buuren charging €80 to listen to chart mashups watch them press the screen on a couple of iPads.
Apologies it seems like I’m ranting - just the pre season excitement kicking in and I’m dying for a few days raving

Agreed Sankeys in its hey day worked well, but even then only really had 1-2 big nights a week. Even brands like Fuse really struggled.

It’s a big club to get numbers in for ‘something different’ - and like you say the popular stuff like tech house and techno is saturated. And I think there is a fear for people trying something new in case the nights not very good

I think that’s where the Sankeys venue has a unique standpoint as it’s not got the “big production” environment or associated history of that and doesn’t need the huge numbers to be full.
If you offered a “Mixmag boiler room” style affair, upcoming dj’s from around the globe would jump at the chance of a live set in Ibiza. Sprinkle with a household name every so often and “this time next year Rodney - we’ll be millionaires” 😂

Octan has lots of potential. The location is terrific. The main room is a good size, the roof terrace could be great with a bit of love and attention - there is no space like it other than Pacha. They have a nice side room too.

Sankeys struggled to get it off the ground across a week in the first place though, despite investing in numerous nights that looked good and diverse on paper. Throughout its last season, they were running cut price tickets for every event.

Since the change in owners, they have put on a few nights with no discernible significant effort around promotion. That’s been 2-3 years now with a couple more off for Covid. How a club can remain open after that long with barely any foot fall can only suggest that being a club isn’t its number one objective. It’s got Gelato or American Candy store written through it like a stick of rock.

The area is important for other reasons and it wouldnt surprise me if the club was part of all that too. When Octan / Sankeys isn’t open, there isn’t a lot going on in the the bars on that street and it becomes very dark and very seedy very quickly.

I hope someone can get hold of it and do a proper job on with it. If Akasha and Chinois can work, this place certainly could if managed properly imo.

What’s everyone’s thoughts / experiences with Circoloco at DC10? I haven’t been for a good few years and considering it this time round - haven’t seen any lineups announced for when we’re there 18-22 June
Current options for the trip are Glitterbox 18th/Amnesia Presents on the 19th or Pyramid on the 18th/Circoloco on the 19th…Or if you beautiful people have some alternative recommendations then I’m all ears 🫶🏼
