ibiza gossip 2023

That boiler room set was an odd one; people implying it's the best thing since rave began. It was messy at best.
I also don't think there is currently a market in Ibiza for the type of music he produces and plays. He will do very well on the UK festival scene this year and next, same as the likes of Four Tet, Floating Points etc. But how often do they play in Ibiza? And are their nights particularly successful?

I just don't see Fred Again having much pull in Ibiza. Might be doing well in the UK but not necessarily with the same crowd of UK partygoers that are going to Ibiza

Not Ibiza news, but Carl Cox's On The Beach date in Brighton is branded as Carl Cox Invites, which is a good indication that he'll again use that in Ibiza (assuming he has a residency, of course!)

Do you think Carl will have a residency in Ibiza 2023 ?

on the grounds that DC10 will fight tooth and nail to keep their third biggest night, I'm leaning towards yes, though I would expect some tweaks from the format last year

Full residency ? Or maybe some events, like Sven ?

I keep hearing this but not seeing anything of substance bar, what looks like, paid for likes and comments on the socials. I could be way off the mark though?

He was placed at no2 on Radio1's Sounds Of 2023 poll and his last minute (wether they were truly last minute is very much up for debate as venues need time to setup and roster staff etc) gigs over the last month in London were very successful and he is continuing his production work on Pink's new single.

He's not ready for Ibiza nights of his own, but could draw a crowd by being on the bill of an established night.

the venues were surely booked well in advance, but the physical act of announcing them and selling them out just hours beforehand was very real and let's be honest, there's artists with FAR bigger profiles, bigger fanbases and larger teams who would never dare try that

Again I might be off here, but his crowd surely more a September crowd these days too? I mean they finished ~20 August last year!

Rest of the O Beach calendar is out on its website. Some notable changes:

- House In Paradise, which went from monthly to weekly in 2022, moves to Wednesdays this summer
- HotBed is gone - as a sidenote, perhaps a casualty of the ABODE/Pollen fall-out and ongoing legal challenges?
- ONE takes up sole ownerships of Thursdays once more, so no more bi-weekly WILDCHILD (Game Over crew) - might that turn up elsewhere?
- the big one though is D4 D4NCE (Defected's commercial label) taking up residence on Mondays

All the rest stays the same

Compared to other Clubs/Venues it doesn't seem to matter what event is on at OBeach, it's busy every day and even more rammed on a weekend. The slight differences in music don't seem to matter. You've got to hand it to them how they've created that phenomenon.

Some places more than others the trend is clearly more production/experience with music just a part of that and at OB pretty secondary

Almost the pure Balearic tradition (who'd think that about OB!) of the club leads generally and is the destination (ob, ushaiaia, Dc10, Cova, Destino, lio) also hi rather than Pacha, amnesia etc where the specific night is the main draw

Will there be any modifications to the garden to turn on music? maybe the area will be covered?

don't know the details, but from what I've heard they are trying everything to have the garden open again this season…and yeah I guess some kind of modifications might be necessary for that…?
