*** ibiza gossip 2019 ***

with dixon being part of the latest louis vuitton campaign

Say what?! I must have missed that one.

Didn't Maceo Plex struggle at Pacha with good line-ups so not sure how much better Dixon would do, although I'd certainly be interested to go along.

just check dixon's instagram...

IF it comes to pass, then I'm pretty sure there won't be any nights where len faki opens as guest, banging the shit out of pacha right at midnight as was the case for mosaic. as much as I liked their line ups and courage, IMO that was just suicidal. and that comes from someone who likes len faki and banging techno.

Obviously as said above, nothing is confirmed. However, I think Maceo suffered as it was Tuesdays (last year of Space/ Cox in 2016 and then Resistance in 2017). With Cocoon, we’ve written about that enough, but mid-week never helped.

If the rumour above is true and it’s Friday at Pacha....then I think that’s totally different, and he’ll pull in a cross-section.

Pacha hasn’t had a decent Friday for years. Finally sorting it for the weekend crowd!

not sure I agree on this and friday aren't getting any easier this year neither.

still though, if it happens, it'll be quality and I shall go lots! :)

I'm not sure Dixon is the box-office draw some of you think. Maybe a few years back when he was RA's favourite son but now?

In any case, I imagine he'd generally prefer Dekmantel-esque crowds to half-empty rooms of tourists so pinning him down to regular dates sounds unrealistic

But then again I haven't heard him in years so maybe he has fully 'sold out' these days...? the market is so fickle and there are so many hype sheep that I guess you have to cash in whilst you can

Maybe I was a little harsh. I never really gave Labyrinth a chance due to HS82, but some good line-ups I suppose.

mostly but not exclusively... [for example <off topic ish> found myself at a fantastic club here called Red 58 on Saturday where a guy called youandewan (?) was playing a variation of mid-tempo tech that was quite funky too, a kind of throwback to when it was still interesting in the early layo & bushwacka, mr c, woolford days.]

but back on Dixon, i'm not referring to secret little one-offs that get the in-crowd's tails wagging. I mean filling out big rooms week after week? especially when 'similar' DJs have been struggling in recent years? just curious, you obv know more than me

youandewan is a fantastic producer, but have never seen him playing live.

all I know is dixon is still one of the most successful 'underground' artists and he keeps being on top of any festival bill. plus, his sound is, similar as with solomun, pretty accessible for anyone. this is why I could see it work.

ps - two of the biggest possible upsets for the 2019 season haven't been mentioned anywhere yet.

now let's see how long it takes until we can read something about it.

Re Cocoon. Sven's full quote on Instagram was; "I would like to thank all of you who celebrated the 19th season Cocoon with us.The metamorphosis has happened.Cocoon is where we are! The closing night was the crowning glory. Thanks to all the DJs, live acts and our stylish dancers, you were BRILLIANT. Thanks to my team and the Pacha team for the good cooperation. I also love Ibiza in times of change. See you next year."
Blablabla...

a 4 week dc10 residency of the martinez brothers on fridays in august wouldn't surprise me. would also neatly keep circoloco martinez brothers-free for a couple of weeks

Have we been through our “MusicOn leaving Amnesia” phase? Previous years all merge into one...

nowhere published yet, but I have it on good authority that paradise will be back at dc10 on wednesdays, with the opening being on 19th june and closing being on 25th september. as usual, both the opening and the closing party will start at 6pm with the garden open as a third dancefloor. I'm sure an announcement is gonna follow soon.

I saw an interview with Dixon several weeks ago (I think at Red Bull Music Festival in Berlin). He said that he often got offered a residency in Ibiza, but always declined, because he doesn't want to have routine and he doesn't like to do things on a regular basis. We'll see if his opinion (or his moneybag) changed ;)

I saw that and he was kind of saying he regretted turning things down so quickly...for me that was a big hint that he might actually be ready to give it a try in Ibiza
