Well Len Faki and Stephan Bodzin are two of my favourite DJs / artists. But can they headline and fill a club of 5,000+ in mid September?

The Bodzin date at Resistance last year was one of the quietest, i love Bodzin and Faki as well but thats got 2 half empty rooms written all over it!

Len Faki at Pacha last September was great too - but there were probably c.400 of us there. And Pacha can still feel full with 500 people just on the dancefloor (probably less so now the dancefloor is expanded). Amnesia is an unforgiving place when a couple of hundred people are on the dancefloor. You just can't make it look busy as both rooms are so open.

i said this before.. dont wait for anything special.

it was very clear from the names they posted at the beginning.

Honestly, any loyal cocoon fan wouldnt go there to spend a night.

its just not worth it.

I'm as big and as loyal a Cocoon fan as you are ever going to find, but I am still going to attend on the nights I am in Ibiza as the lineups are good.

Cocoon and Amnesia parted ways amicably and Pyramid Monday is still an underground (sorry to use the word) house and techno event with some outstanding weeks of music so why wouldn't people attend if they were a Cocoon fan? I can understand a slight dig at some of the weaker weeks, but I can't say that Cocoon would have anything to do with my decision whether to attend or not.

Hmm ... Pyramid line ups. Some outstanding ones in there for sure but also some pretty weak ones as well.

I land at tea time for the Carl Cox date - the mrs is adamant we are going but she has never experienced a rammo Amnesia and not sure how she will like it!

Re Circoloco line up next week - agree that there are some surprising names. Does look a bit Paradisey... but hopefully that will stop when JJs night kicks into gear.

I went last night

I went last night , Seth Trox distorted the vibe in the garden when he came on so we left

Plus there was a power cut just at the wrong time , we usually just do opening but when I see the line up for next week I was actually contemplating it !!

I fancy a bit of Denis dropping PVD for a angel

I appreciate that the second week is normally relatively quiet in comparison to other weeks but trying to fill it with ket heads in white socks is not the way forward. Granted there are plenty of ket heads in white socks at a regular Circo but lets all pray that this week is a one off as the game is up if Denis Sulta is bouncing around to Lock n Load "Blow Ya Mind"

Just also noticed that DC doesn't open till 6pm now. Used to be one of my favourite times between 5 and 7 in the garden with not many people there. I can see this moving to 11pm / midnight opening in the very near future, maybe not this year.

tbh that move was overdue. the first two hours were pointless lately because it was literally empty. 6pm start makes sense and I do not think they will move much from that.

Personally I always arrived at 6PM anyway - left at 1AM for Amnesia. All in it was always a minimum of 12 hours of dancing and it didn't get any better than that.

Yeah you will still get the garden, I arrived at 5pm last year and it was one man and his dog stuff in the garden. When I think back I can understand why they have moved the opening time, will be a mad rush of people at 6:01 now, like the Boxing Day sales as people rush into the garden to get the best spot.....

Nobody went at 4 it’s just too hot and peeps are still on the beach!

Also this run of dc10 parties before paradise opens usually has a few Jamie Jones dates with other paradise artists pretty sure that’s quite common?

Randoms indeed.
I was sat having a fag in the DC10 garden a few years ago and got chatting to a seemingly friendly couple who asked me the one person I'd invite to a dinner party...
Turns out she was absolutely obsessed with Kevin McCloud from Grand Designs. Weirdly so in fact. She began doing impressions so I began to take the mick with her fella.
It soon transpired he was more obsessed than her and they had every episode ever taped. He started talking about his choice of attire from specific episodes and it was then I knew I had to make a sharp exit.
Can just imagine that they have a weird shrine like room - shades of the Alan Partridge 'your a mentalist' ep.

Strange line up. Jamie 3:26 doesn't really fit with the rest. Much like when Marcellus Pittman is booked to play

so many bizarre lineups this year. Would be so much better if specialists like say Dekmantel or Clone were booked to do one-off takeovers. The fanboys would know what they were gonna get and all the DJs would complement each other - but I guess that's too risky for the bean counters. I think the *enlightened thinking* is more along the lines of lets put a load of random bods with familiar names together and hope 602 spazzed out tourists don't care.

re: Jamie 326 I heard him play at a basement in Stoke Newington a few years back. School night. 9 of us there maybe? absolutely battered. pre-relationship when I could get away with murder. I think he went pretty deep and I remember shit except some Eurythmics bootleg

as for all the stuff about "strong" / "weak" lineups - WTF does that even mean? are we talking talent or hype?

glossary:

"strong lineup" = the music might/might not be shit but either way the floor will be rammed, everyone is talking about this DJ and I will get lots of nice selfies with that guy in the pirate hat

"weak lineup" = DJ I've never heard of playing music I've never heard of to a dead dancefloor with seven lost yanks dancing with a balloon in the corner and I will do anything, anything to avoid that scenario

Stivi - glad to see there is going to be something at Destino on 12 July when we arrive as potentially gives us another option for the weekend. Any idea when line-ups will be out and whether each week will be a different musical style etc. Thanks

the first one has just been announced - 26th july is with joseph capriati and more to be announced.

they are mixing things up a bit this year. what I can say is that a few of those dates will be taken by cocoon - but I genuinely do not know the specific dates yet. it is all going to be announced soon now.
