Ibiza clubbing changes....

So this is how I understand it:

Manumission apparently not going on this year -- which may also lead to end of Carry On ?. (Disaster in the extreme! Biggest mash up in Ibiza no more! WTF is going on?!) -- let us hope that both of these are only rumours and that both do indeed take place. [Yes, Manumission may not be the coolest/trendiest place and might be overly touristy but it is a must-see for those who are Ibiza virgins or who want a completely over the top experience]

La Troya moving from its natural home Amnesia to Space (Extreme disappointment! IMHO, as a venue for La Troya Amnesia undoubtedly trumps Space)

Scandal apparently not going on this year as Penelope closed. (minor annoyance)

Gorgeous moving from Penelope to Space and date moves from Friday to Saturday (extreme irritation as Friday now left bare -- for me-- and Saturday now has schedule conflicts--again for me as I must now choose either Gorgeous @ Space or David Morales @ Pacha)

What is going on in Ibiza this year? All of these significant changes are pretty major and, if substantiated, will have a devastating impact on my holiday. These were all key nights and key venues for me and, with these changes, I am left feeling totally deflated. This long-anticipated holiday week (with 20+ friends in tow) seems as if it is not going to be quite as memorable as I had hoped--and may improve highly embarrassing for me as I shall have to explain to disappointed Ibiza virgins that Ibiza 2006 is not the norm! All I have left is DC 10, Bora Bora, and Matinee. I'm just waiting to hear that these are going to be closed as well!

Quit your moaning and embrace a few changes  ;) Ibiza evolves and changes every year, there's been nights that I used to love that are no longer there but it never impacts on my enjoyment of the holiday, in fact it often means you try something new.

Hi Rafal,

I too am a fan of the parties you mentioned and I understand your disappointment.

However the club scene is in a constant state of flux and for that I am glad. While the bigger famous parties do a fantastic job of pulling people in from all over the world, once they're here many find that they have just as good if not a better night at smaller venues or even random parties at villas or on a beach.

I am sure that when you are here you will make friends who will tempt you away from chosen path and I urge you to follow their advice, especially if they're really hot.

Any holiday that includes Matinée, Dc10 and Bora Bora is unlikely to be a disappointment. Last year Penelope came out of nowhere and provided fantastic nights out for thousands and I'm sure there'll be more unexpected surprises.

Or it may be that you party a little less and instead have more time for dinners at lovely restaurants, a day in the north of Ibiza or Formentera.

In my experience the most important thing is not the djs or the clubs, but the company you keep.

Everything will be fine.

;)

I'd happily quit my moaning (although nothing quite gives me as much pleasure as a good rant!) if I could see evidence of new and exciting alternatives. I'm all for evolution but so far I just see disintegration with not a phoenix in sight:!:

Of course there'll be alternatives. You could go out every day in Ibiza for a summer and not listen to the same dj twice.

Many parties are not announced until immediately prior to the event. What you've got planned looks like more than enough.

No-one ever leaves Ibiza thinking "I wanted to party my arse off but there weren't enough clubs to go to."

And also you'll probably find you enjoy your hols more if you don't plan everything. I always make plans for Ibiza and they always go ar$e over tit, I take the view that as long as I get to Space on a Sunday then the rest of the week falls into place around it. Some nights you might have planned a night out but want to do something more relaxing, other nights you might leave a club at 8am and still be going strong and end up doing random aftershow at aftershow. That's the best thing about Ibiza, just go with the flow.

Well said.

Hey, arse isn't on the swear word filter - arse!

Arse!

Arse!
