Ibiza Club Closure Online Petition

I think the fact that whoever has named it "dont ruin Ibiza" is ridiculous. You have to realise it's not our own personal playground for one or two weeks.

People have to live there, and correct me if I'm wrong but this was this zero tolerance not part of the manifesto of the democraticly elected government. Even the english ambassador has agreed with it (wrongly IMO).

Just be thankful it's now and not peak season

Is he? im sorry but just how much of a disturbance to those attending DC10 cause to locals? Fair enough Bora Bora, more chance of a family walking through that melle, I can see the point there. But Amnesia and DC10 are hardly in the public glare. What about the binge-drinking in the West End, isnt that a greater problem?

I see what Matt is saying, who are we as foreigners to complain about a different country's way of doing things? - and I agree to a certain extent. However its pretty to obvious to all that there is clearly more to these closures than a new political manifesto.

agree

add to the fact that they have been more than happy to take the tourist euro/peseta for years to finance the regeneration of the island

better targets than the 3 chosen IMO

Quite. The guy might aswell be praying...

Maybe, seeing as it doesn't say who the petition will be presented to, doesn't check email addresses ot multiple 'signatures', it's just there for God to see. And he'll know what's what on there, what with with being here, there and every bloodywhere!

So c'mon big guy, get off your high cloud and sort it out!

Of course, but at the end of the day drinking is not illegal. It is annoying as most of the problems which occur will be caused by people who've had far too much to drink but as in this country, the government doesn't understand that. It's very much a case of using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

yup, completely agree. i still think a massive friendly love parade style march on the powers that be would be the best thing to do!

as i understand it the supply of beer to the island is not controlled by gun toting members of the neapolitan camorra or international terrorists financing their activities. could that have any connection to political decisions being made here?

But surely they should be focusing their attentions on people smuggling large amounts into the island at the ports and airports, as opposed to closing down clubs in which many people will either not be doing drugs or only have a very small amount on them?

I'd say the sight of hoardes of drunks staggering around the West End at night is far more frightening and damaging to Ibiza's image than anything you'll see at DC10, Bora Bora or Amnesia. Apart from the odd mullet.

they've confiscated tons of illegal substances already this year. can i say that as a person with a foot in neither camp - clubs or west end - i can't see any difference twixt a load of drunks rolling around the west end or a load of drugged up gimps piling out of amnesia spilling across the road at 8am when the world and his wife want to get to work.

Maybe the reasons of why this industry needs to be controlled by such people should be in question...

But surely you take the San Jose-San An road to Cala de Bou, Stephen, thus avoiding San Rafael ;)

unhappily the people making the decisions as to what is or is not legal are not 25 year old clubbers but middle aged men in suits whose outlook is somewhat different.

pre-****ing-cisely.

Is there more to these closures though??? That's debatable. Maybe now it'll give people the chance to see the other side of the island that so many of us bang on about... (I am getting old now)

It just seems odd that they've chosen to take this hardline stance now. I know that there is a new government in charge, but drugs and Ibiza isn't something new so why now? How is closing only three places for a short time going to make any difference to the larger 'problem'?
