ibiza 2019 observations

So when I post something on Facebook or Instagram it fires back at me here? Come on guys.
There's too much focus on it right now.

Does look a bit like Villalobos doing his best to send everyone to sleep in that video
You think? Sounds like an after hours remix of Wink - I’m ready. Or certainly a sample of it. At 11am I’m not sure anyone really cares.

that video looked really boring imo - and I write that as someone who (generally) rates RV

nothing worse late in the night than a dj going through the motions when the 'fog' in your head is clearing and you're crying out for some uplifting warm pads

That's precisely the time to start pulling some real classics out of the box, Space Terrace style ... bit of Age of Love or something like that.

:spank:
That is a real classic! Age of love is a great tune though. The remix must have been one of the biggest tunes of the summer, if not the biggest

You do make me laugh, Kim. Love your passion and knowledge (not meant to sound condescending at all even though it does!). It’s one tune on a video, not a whole set. He’s kept a big crowd there at 11am. For old timers it’s a remix they should be familiar and deliver smiles, for new skoolers it sounds like it needs filing under tech house that goes nowhere. You’d be disgusted at the dress code though.

Yes fair point LBS I don't know if that clip is representative but as a snapshot it just feels so flat compared to Dixon and the dramatic odyssey he takes you on

Just updated the post Kim. As a matter of interest, what makes Dixon so special? Serious question. I struggle to connect with him and the German house scene generally. Heard him live a couple of times in the last three years and see the crowd really get off on it but he leaves me cold. All that said, I used to enjoy Ian Pooley a few years ago but Dixon seems to be a road I can’t seem to cross.

What I've heard of Dixon "on form" is really great but I've listened to recorded sets of his that I wouldn't actually play again and filed in the bin. That also goes for the odd B2B with Ame. Maybe they are better on a big system but still not really convinced sometimes ! Yet to hear a poor offering from David August though, maybe that's because I just pick up on the sets that get raved about.

Subtext of "real" lost in internet translation I think but fair enough. Is AOL still getting rinsed then ? The Watch Out for Stella mix is still the best I've heard - was sometime between 2011 and 2013 that I did my last Space closing and when that mix got dropped on the terrace very near the end the place just erupted. Feet that had already danced an ultra-marathon were going crazy all around. One of those moments it's impossible to forget, even if the timeline fades into a blur ?

Track Villalobos is playing in the Amnesia closing clip appears to be this one, rather than the Wink classic btw :

Not spotlight related but the Pirate fighting again at amnesia closing (and racial slurrs)
As per his Facebook

Come on man chill and enjoy more. I don't like seeing people not enjoy themselves.

Yah didn't like his blatant racial slurs. Dunno why he's on edge at these parties.

I think he's cool. He could go about a better way of asking for things in my personal experience

It sounds weird to me.
As an ASIAN french, it's sure he has been victim of racism himself in our country.

So it's totally ununderstandable for me.

When he talks about people with he has problems in clubs (and it's very often...), he always mentions the race or the nationality.
Why?
