ibiza 2019 observations

when I was 18 Ibiza wasn't the place to go or at least around my way....It was also the place out of budget back then which I find interesting since we all think Ibiza is expensive. I guess it always just has been?

I also had the impression Ibiza was too 'hardcore' as well.... I had the impression if you went there it would be full on and I felt the likes of Magaluf was a safer option if you wanted to come back in one piece

These were opinions prior to any social media as well

The police were waiting at ibiza Airport and took 3 woman away.
It was an evening flight and it was delayed 2hours so it did mean people were drinking more beforehand.

Been on 3 return flights with our 11 year old and probably over 35 return flights in total - the worst I’ve seen is people making ‘obvious’ use of the toilets.

I fly from London, typically on BA at sensible times; I’ve tried late flights both ways (like leaving Ibiza 1 am or something like that), but they kill me so we stick to mid morning or mid afternoon flights now.

Ibiza is great with kids.

In 15 years of coming here and having experienced pretty much all clubbing scenes on the Island, from cheese to psy, I must say that the final Namaste event at Las Dalias yesterday was one of my all time favourite nights. Awesome, smiling crowd. Not a phone in sight. 5,50€ for a beer. Full sit-down dining and great food stalls. Perfect music progression from blissed-out, mid tempo prog, through a great live set, into full pumping melodic techno later on. Outside area still rocking at 1:30am when we left.

Any spotlighters there yesterday?

Agree here. I think I was in the same boat as you mate.

In my late teens Ibiza was well out of my reach, or so I thought. Financially and experience wise.

It definitely had a sort of hardcore reputation about it. I think it still does now, amongst people that have never been.

I suppose you have to go through the Magalufs and the Malia’s to appreciate Ibiza?

I ended up going by pure chance, a last minute lads holiday. Been going ever since ? ?‍♂️?

True! In a way I wish I had done a Malia/Kavos/Zante holiday before Ibiza as now I'm too old and it would feel like a step down.

I've been to Malia during the day out of season, and it just looked like the West End, but without a discobus to whisk you off to an amazing club at the end. But 18 year old me would have probably loved it there regardless!
 
I am glad I came to Ibiza at 18. When I went first it was simply to get wasted and party, the music was just a bonus. Upon leaving, I knew the place had changed me. If I had went somewhere else first it would mean I wouldn't have been to the island as often as I have. Most importantly I would have never experienced Space, got to go right at the end, which was a very special experience. Especially knowing all that I know now.

I also first went at 18, the place was maybe a bit lost on me and my mates due to budget constraints and not really having a clue about the music scene but was still an amazing trip.

Next couple of holidays were in Magaluf which is a better place for lads that age but I always held a life long love for Ibiza from the very first time!

I'm not sure I'd bring my kids here on a family holiday though. There are other destinations that I'd take them that would be better for kids and probably cheaper.

I feel sorry for the families on the planes. For example my plane over was carnage with groups of people getting shit faced and openly taking coke in their seats. I'm all for partying but families with kids don't need to experience that.

Those Irish/English flights are carnage man. Some of the things I’ve seen!!
 
Its 100% the time of your flight... ive experienced calm, civilised flights in the am but anything in the afternoon, evening or night will defo have a few nobs on board who have had a few too many. I flew from Liverpool this year on a tea time flight and 1/3 of the flight were wired on the sniff
 
The que for the loo does be bad as it is but some party animals can't even wait till they get to the island. My last flight from Dublin I was sat infront of a bad bunch to say the least. One bloke was just so rowdy and obnoxious the whole journey. He got into numerous arguments for being too loud with his mate who was scared of flying. The one guy tried to say because he was in the air it didn't matter how loud he was, because no one could do anything! I seen them hours later around 2pm just off the west end out of their nut. Doubt they lasted much longer. Talk about crashing too early.
 
First year I went to the Ibiza the flight out of Newcastle was pretty rowdy.

Was a bunch of lads from Wallsend that I knew from footy. Decent lads but they like a line or ten ?

Wasn’t sitting near them on the flight, but they were on our transfer coach and true to form they were getting on the beak on the bus ? One of them got a nosebleed really badly.

Was thinking to myself bloody hell lads you aren’t even at the digs yet ?‍♂️

Pretty cringe, as it was only about 12am and there was families on the bus.

There’s a time and place for this sort of stuff ffs.

Part of the problem is in the 'race to the bottom' the airlines have had to get costs as low as possible, the crew are getting younger and younger, seen some on Jet2 who are about 18 and don't look like they'd raise their voice never mind confront a drug taking customer and call the Guarda Civil to the plane when it lands.

Agree with a few recent posts there's a time and a place for partying, and on the plane and on the transfer coach aren't it.

Agree about the race to the bottom. But the airlines are not in charge of security at airports.
