ibiza 2019 observations

Can't believe Bodyworks is doing well. Thought it was just a fill-in before Resistance started, but looks like it's holding it's own which is amazing. I'm still in disbelief. I know nothing!
The club room was rammed wall to wall at the opening, seems to be the case every week from the vids I've seen of Fisher. Bare in mind this is while Camelphat had a packed theatre as well, I've never seen HI so busy that it fills both rooms.

The cheaper tickets probably help as well to get the younger crowd in spite of the drink prices, which shows with the right programming you can still get the less affluent crowd in and charge 20e+ for a single vodka mixer. True singles as well due to the pouring spout, everywhere else you seem to get a double-triple depending on the bartender ?.

On the flip side it's probably a good thing because it really discourages cokeheads. You'd pretty much wind up spending your entire night in a toilet queue  Most people know my thoughts as to what a load of coke does for a party !
Before the old Shoreditch station was done up it only had one cubicle, there was a sign do not take drugs in the toilet, use the table outside. Bouncers was walking past people racking up on the table and throwing people out of the club for doing drugs in the toilet.

Young people always like to have a scene of their own, this has happened since time began. EDM has got old, its now seen as the stuff their older relatives would listen to and attend. Tech House and the less 'put you fffing hands up' but still quite commerical house styles are where the young crowd want to be.

As another poster have said Hi have done well building this acts up in the smaller room while Prydz played though, got to be at least a few who saw them before Prydz or having a quick break from the mainroom and have decided to go back to see them headline this summer. Chucking acts in at the deepend straightaway as Headliner doesnt always work.

I agree that CamelPhat's set last year before Prydz was totaly awesome the date we went (the theather was also packed, almost as packed as when the Prydz's set).

Plus, jumping here and there in the club room for Solardo was also pretty great. You could easely feel that the 2 duos were clearly on the rise. Fresh air for Ibiza!

They definitely have much better taste than most of the generation before them. There's been a shocking interlude in electronic music recently it's actually good to see things turning around a bit again !

Whats the deal with Eden VIP. Got a friend asking so wanted to get some proper information from people in the know

What do you need to know? Got it free a few years back. Tables at the front were pretty good, good space to dance there too. Only problem was they wouldn’t let you bring drinks back into the VIP, which was a bit odd.

Never paid for it so not sure on the minimum spends etc

Was in their last friday for the Defected night, was dancing right next to what I imagine was some sort of VIP area as it was roped off with a security bloke watching over it. Looked decent enough and really close to the DJ/dancefloor/action.

Place was pretty packed out with a great atmosphere ?

Main memory from the night was hearing that classic Pete Heller tune Big Love getting played, it went down really well everyone was really buzzing in the place ?

I think it was the David Penn remix and when it breaks down around 2:35 with the piano bit the place was really alive and kicking! Such a good night!

:D?

Yeah , can do nothing better today as Pete Heller , Adeva or the other old House Heroes. New Rmx of the Tracks ( or Not )and its like a new Release. We have a big flashback in Ibz of 80/90s house and this is good

Yes mate, the place was really buzzing!

We worked our way right up to the front near the DJs, Sam Divine and I think it was David Penn too. Dropping all kinds of classics and everybody was really soaking it up and getting into it.

Was our first night of the holiday and we'd been up since 4 that morning for the flight and we were hanging out, but we just couldn't leave the place it was rocking :p ?

As they were dropping that Big Love tune I turned and said to my missus 'Holy shit, welcome back to Ibiza!' ? Cheesey as f*** ?‍♂️

quick rundown of yesterday night:

started with a visit to la granja. this place hasn't been mentioned on here too much, it's a beautiful countryside hotel and tuesdays and friday evenings they do events as well. yesterday was with jaime fiorito and kalabrese (which was the reason we went). great music but not our scene - far too boho-chic for me. the place was busy though and it seems to have been like that all summer from what I'm told.

then made our short way over to pikes in time for midnight and mathew jonson's 90 live set. fan-f***in-tastic! the first bit sounded all new and then towards the end he also played some of his classics (typerope for example and IIRC he also played india in me). when he started it wasn't busy yet, but about 45min into his performance freddie's was full. not jam-packed, but just right.

after that we went to pacha for transmoderna - see @mr_why post in transmoderna thread for details.

This review was all I needed to read about that place - shame as if it was friendly, efficient and with good service the setting is great :

We booked the guest house (Independent part of the farmHouse, and the biggest room of the farm) for a couple of days middle of August.

  1. To begin, la Granja is really 30min from eivissa center.
  2. It really is in the middle of nowhere, out of the tourist life.
Unless you are looking for a calm lonely retreat, we would recommend to stay only 1 or 2 days.

We were so exited to be there and live the Granja experience !
  1. We arrived and had to take all of our luggages to our room with the only help of a girl who had welcomed us few minutes before.
  2. We had no welcoming amenities at ALL. ( either at our Welcome or in the room). Unacceptable for a 1550€/night bedroom.
  3. Only a few pillows in the room and almost no space to unpacked your clothes. (only 2 pillows by room) not very generous. (But well, it is a « farm »)
  4. We had no explanation about the concept, about la granja, the way the hotel worked, even the Breakfast hours, the different activities we could benefit, the workshops organised.. nor explaining the menu, the price. Nothing. You are really left all by your own.
  5. Even thought the food is amazing, the service is sooooo LONG, and everything takes a lot of time. You can be sure to forget asking anything from room service !!
  6. The place by the pool is nice but not enough guest charities available. (towels and sit pillows)
In conclusion,
There is a BIG GAP between the experience you are Highly paying for, and the service you are getting ! It is completely over rated !

The only real good think about this hotel, are the amazing people working there and the extraordinary chef ( one of a kind )they have in the kitchen !

They have not decided between being
A Concept Hôtel or Luxury or a Cool
place to stay, but for sure the Farm has already chose to charge you a price for a room like the AMMAN in Tokyo.
