ibiza 2019 observations

One of them were very sick a month ago and didn’t go to a few gigs. Anybody that knows anything about Adriatique would notice a difference.
I don't know much about them. Probably like the Martinez sisters, any two blokes in Ibiza could say they are them and I'd believe them.

Interesting stuff regarding Adriatique including @craig72 's teasing ... From @white_isle_calling review you could say they are approaching the big league but then again no-one knows who they are ... Essentially they are the bridge between Diynamic and Afterlife and are growing in credibility / popularity ... We have seen them maybe 4 or 5 times in the last year and they rarely disappoint and also bring out the best in Solomun at the afters at closing of Solomun +1 and Off Week Diynamic Barcelona ... That being said I bet it was blonde Adrian and not Adrian Shala (dark Adrian) who was missing last night as he has plenty of previous of this and I also get the impression that dark Adrian is the better selector and more humble / likeable ... i am glad they are getting the type of attention usually reserved for only the few

One observation on that one Adrian (Shala it is then) I've seen in Amsterdam.
While I really dont need or expect a dj like Fatboy Slim or Fisher in terms of doing too much with the audience instead of playing records. But this guy didn't even look at the audience nor smiled one time during his set. He also had a bunch of guys with him that approached everyone that pulled their phones out for a pic or vid saying they couldn't take pics or vids. While the aforementioned b2b with the other dj's was great and we had a unique night, I was not under the impression he liked to be there.

I know them both personally. they are pretty different in personality but both of them are truly super nice people.

there‘s a good reason blond adrian misses a gig every now and then

Same thing for Camelphat because the phat Camel has tinnitus.

Before my week gets more involved, I will update on Glitterbox. We went to Glitterbox on Sunday up to c.0230 before Pacha. Purple Disco Machine played a brilliant set. Much better than many I’ve heard before. As I’ve said before, not a massive Hï fan, but it works for this night. I would genuinely recommend this night if you just want a good chilled happy vibe. It is what it is. Enjoy....

Okay, here goes...

Firstly, both Solomun and Capriati's solo sets (or the little I saw of them) were pretty uninspiring. I might even be tempted to say it was dross at some points. Got to say, of the 3 times I've caught Solomun on Amnesia terrace, he's never really worked for me there. Nowhere near his Pacha sets imho.

But the club room? Oh my god.

- Adriatique played not only the best set of the season so far, but the best set I've seen anywhere - not only Ibiza - in a good few years. You know when you wonder "is it as as good as I think it is?" Then you look around and you make eye-contact with a stranger and exchanging a knowing wink. Well, THAT, lots of times!

- easily the best night I've had off substances EVER by a country mile. Had 2 x canas before I went out, but by the time we got inside (big queues) I was definitely sober. And i danced all the way until the end. The music was fantastic. Proof that when it's that good, it's the only drug you need.

- Easily the busiest Monday this summer. Far busier than any Cocoon. Amnesia was alive last night, f***in' great. The energy in the club room was amazing.

- Perhaps a tale of a dual crowd, as the terrace was certainly a different vibe to the club. But that room was one of the best I've seen in Ibiza for a long time. Loads of beautiful girls too, for anybody that cares

- For me, I've not had a night in Amnesia like that in years. Last time was maybe Cocoon closing 2016? I actually f***ed my feet up a little on Saturday night in a drunken state. On a few occasions my feet were very sore and I had to sit down. But the music was that good, I was on my feet again within minutes. Also it felt like a proper old school Amnesia party, where tired legs would couch and get chatting to strangers. A real community spirit. I loved it.

- the club room shut at 6am and the terrace continued to 7am I assume. Still packed when I left at 06:15 and Solomun b2b Capriati playing a lot better than earlier in the night. But there was a clear highlight: the Adrians. Also thought Renato Ratier was pretty good.

Will post some tracks later.

I can only echo this review, superb. What a night. Musically, I also found solomun very different to his usual style in pacha and much preferred adriatique. Solomun owns pacha, he doesn’t command the booth as much in amnesia for me. So we may have to attend solomun this Sunday, which we didn’t have planned.

Again, with your comments relating to the atmosphere, the last time a night in Ibiza blew my mind was cocoon in 2016, with solomun as Svens guest. Everyone was on the same level with a smile on there face, buzzing.

We are Now looking ahead to dance or die tomorrow, any feedback on this party would be appreciated. I’m hoping for a party with more substance than ants. Not expecting too much though.....

I also find that I love Solomon at pacha but when he plays else where doesn't quite hit the spot for me! Seen him at Destino 2017 and he was nothing special when he played there

Loving what i am reading. Adriatique is in my top 3 easily with Maceo and Dixon. They almost never disappoint and much better than Solomun and Tale of Us i believe.

But it should have something to do with the club room as well. I do not see Adriatique at Terrace giving the same effect (i was not there but went to see Adriatique twice this year and they were incredible both times). Techno sounds better in big rooms but melodic house is much better in intimate locations in my opinion.

Never heard Capriati play a decent set boring af DJ, swerved him for years and I love good techno.

What you felt is how any party worth shelling out for and giving up a night''s sleep should be. Drugs should NEVER be needed to enjoy a night out that much with great music and a great crowd. Quality over quantity all the way.

I felt similar over Richie Hawtin (of all people) Cocoon guest appearance a few years ago when he closed the Terrace. The place was just on fire and a top night there beat all others.

It's just a shame you can count nights like those on one hand out of the hundreds of parties every Season.

I had the pleasure to meet in the plane from Mallorca to Ibiza Adrian Shala and I can confirm just as Stivi says that he is a really nice and open guy.
We were talking about many things and he confirmed me that the other Adrian could not go to Ibz because a serious problem with his ears.

Regarding the party of Amnesia it was really one for the books. Amnesia like his old golden days, full and with a really great vibe!

Musically, the set of Solomun was almost a warming up for Capriati. Capriati was killing Amnesia with bombs...but the b2b was pure magic!

We were in the club for a couple of hours and Adrian was killing it as well...I think that it is difficult or even impossible to ask more to a party on Ibiza.

Not sure if Renato's last or Adrian's first track.

You can never hear enough of The Knife out, I find.

Also, keep an ear out for new Apir (Tim Green's new alias which recently debuted on Cocoon) - he's got an EP coming on Siamese it looks like.

There was another track, sounded very Ellum/Maceo Plex like. Had a scroll through his recent releases and can't find it. The search continues!

Gonna hold a few tracks back for the official review, which is pending and will be up soon

So the Amnesia weirdness continues.... Example was booked, travelled from Australia (ok he did SW4 too) and was cancelled on the day - in his words ‘because the club are losing money’ (or rather the night? Or not paying artists in full in advanced?)

So looks like he spent the night in Pikes for Discodisco instead

Possibly...I can't recall either. There was the rooftop of Ushuaia for one season....and before that the "old" Ushuaia beach club as a free party when he was trying to resurrect his DJing cred. That was a daytime thing though...
Evening, he used to come on late evening at old Ush
