ibiza 2019 observations

Agree that ott security can kill the vibe e.g fabric, DC10 etc. On the other hand, if you are choosing to indulge in highly illegal substances you can’t really protest too much if you run into measures designed to prevent you doing so.

Circoloco used to be one of the messiest parties on the island with very open drug taking on the dancefloor. I think if they turned a blind eye to it entirely the authorities might give them grief especially now it's become a lot more "commercialized" in terms of clientele. Of course that gives security a perfect excuse to profit from enforcement of discretion as they're hardly going to chuck people out for it. If you want to snort off the bar these days you'll need to find a private party !

From what people have described I thought the choice was pay the fine or be chucked out?

Just to clarify I don't and have never stuck drugs up my nose in a nightclub but notice it everywhere I go.

stuff like this has been going on for decades.... when i was starting to get into House/Techno 17/18 year old (20 years ago) the main club we used to go to on fridays had their own dealer installed in the same spot every week upstairs, you were extorted £20 a pill off him and if you were then picked out by the bouncers you'd get a shake down, they would take most of your gear then you'd find yourself later in the night buying your own gear back off their man upstairs .... again! like i say, nothing new and nothing you can do really if you want to indulge its sometimes a shady world..

I remember in another north east nightspot with particularly burly security my friend andy got caught with a bag in the loos, bouncer confiscated it and told my mate to piss off, he then must have decided to shoot a huge line of what he thought was coke, we watched him getting carried out of the loos not long after by his bouncer buddies after what must have been a bumper bump of K... 'K'arma

What I meant was they're not going to chuck people out without offering them an alternative first - if they choose not to pay then they're getting kicked. This is Ibiza not Clacton-on-Sea and where there's a chance to extort money in Summer people are going to take it. For Security it's basically analagous to living off tips for a waiter/waitress rather than basic ;)

‘Extort money’ and ‘Ibiza’ in the same sentence ?

Goes together synonymously as well as bangers and mash, bonnie and Clyde, Chas and Dave, Fred and Rose, fish and chips, Kenan and Kel, Torville and Dean, Ant and Dec etc

Been walking around San Antonio today and I’ve never seen it so empty. Not many bars with more than a few people in. Outside mambo was the only busy ish place, the rest of the terrace had barely more than 10 people altogether. Currently in Itaca and it seems as usual along this row of bars though

I'd say it's because a few thousand people are either in ibiza rocks hotel right now or then in o beach. both of them will be full to the brim right now.

Popped into ABODE last night. Very busy! Though, without wanting to sound an pessimist, maybe I expected it to be even more busy still given the date. Good crowd though! Musically, wasn't my thing. But could not fault the atmosphere. By half 4 when I left it was still busy enough, but you could tell the exodus had started.
