ibiza 2019 observations

Couple of observations during my 3 night stay over weekend.

San Antonio didn't seem to be as busy to me this time around. We were in the west end Friday and Sunday night, in my opinion was about 50% as packed as i have usually found it over the years. Usually it takes a while to get through the crowds to various bars etc. This time around we were astounded at how quiet it seemed. I have visited during all the summer months over the years from May to early October, apart from the 2 x May trips i have done its always been heaving. I have only managed to get over to Ibiza twice in the last 5 years due to having kids in this time, but was shocked on both nights at how freely we could move about. Anyone else think this? Maybe it could be because more families are over in July because of school holidays starting in the UK around this time?

Even the beach in the bay wasn't half as busy as ive seen it over the years. I would be interested to see the visitor numbers when they are released. Maybe its just me and not being as a frequent visitor as many on here, but was definitely one of the first things i thought of walking around over the weekend!

Also noticed that there weren't many Police around as usual. Usually you see them up and down the bay and around the town every few minutes or so, this time i barely saw any around the bay. In fact the only times i saw them was on friday night when Eden and Es Paradis were being checked. I also saw one car driving on the path around the bay but that was it. Usually you see them on mopeds up and down the bay all the time and walking around a lot. Again in my opinion there was barely any, i dont think i saw one in the west end during the 2 x visits i made.

Don't think the police are bothered about the west end. Lots a people have seen trouble down there and in frequently any police around. As its mostly Brits in the west end, ya think the Spanish police want to get involved in any of that lairy behaviour, guess they'd prefer it to get sorted, without there involvement and without their batons out.

Yeah i see and agree with that to be fair, after the incident i saw the other night its no surprise really. Was just comparing it to other years where every couple of mins or so you would see a car, scooter or them walking around. Seemed to be a lot more security/bouncers around so maybe thats how they police it unless it gets really out of hand and they are needed.

I feel it’s been quiet the past couple of weeks in San An and also round the bay but noticed a bit of a spike over the past 2 days in the bay, not sure if the west end is the same.

Serious question, is San An/the west end really a barometer for how busy/well the island is doing or just a sign of how many brits are there? Do other nationalities stay in or frequent that area? Just seen so many comments over the years of “ohh the west end is so quiet this year”....does it really matter that much in the grand scheme of things?

Agreed I probably won't go near this year with closing times reduced. Haven't been since 2016 be scared to see how many places have closed down now

No definitely not, i was just making an observation based on most of my time over the years has been based in San An. I normally don't spend much time in the west end, only really passing through to Mambo or Del Mar and the odd drink here and there to meet up with people etc.. I ended up there two nights this time round as we were doing things on the cheap as we had booked late and have other holidays/commitments coming up.

I met some lads from Finland on Friday, we was also speaking to a Russian couple at the hotel we stayed in too but Brits will be for sure the main nationality of people staying in San An.

This island rly is magical. Met a couple on the first night and they invited us to their table at pacha for solomun. Didn’t think they would come through but holy shit just as we were getting in line for pacha ticket entrance they text us to meet them at VIP entrance.

Surreal partying behind the DJ booth at one of the hottest parties of the year. Unexpected delightful night!

I will say this, pacha rly does maximize their space in the VIP. It felt as crowded as GA and their “tables” are more like nightstands lol
Qué significa rly? lo siento, pero a veces es triste leer mensajes como ese. No nos importan las áreas VIP. todos juntos para la fiesta, eso es ibiza

Rly =really= realmente.

Yo estoy de acuerdo pero No iría pasar la oportunidad ser ir VIP sin pagar. Fuimos muchas veces fuera del VIP para la área general

Fairplay to anyone who properly enjoyed Carl Cox Tonight. Incredible to walk in and see the club full and it still takes my breath away

Other than that it was a nightmare. Getting around the club was laughable. An unbearable amount of people. It was dangerous

Heard a few tunes and the Vista was banging. Was hoping it would thin out at 5 but no chance. It was an experience but hard to enjoy

I went out to the west end a few times last year around this same time. Highlander and that popular Irish one I think were packed, but yeah not overall that busy. It's not my scene anyways but a great place to go if you wanna just get smashed.

I noticed a significant increase of ppl during radio one weekend... like restos, bars, everything was crazy crowded but it died down fast after the weekend

Hmm okay so last year it wasn't unbearable for Coxs b-day, but year before on the second Pure Cox date it was mental until maybe around 4 to 5.

Sucks that it was so busy...I'm surprised it was that much. I still think last week's opener had the better DJs

I felt there was way more room than DC-10 Monday. The only place you couldn't get to was the outside area as they closed it off. The main room had little pockets of Space all over and the second room bar was always easy to get a drink.

Was a bit drunk last night ?
Nothing wrong with what you did ...have been myself many times to the vip in amnesia to have a drink with some friends ( but never pay to get there ) nothing wrong with that , it’s just That sometimes The all vip things that is around the island for already some years ( was always there but never to this scale ) pissed me off , this bring the wrong people to the island that have no clue about the music and are there just to show up and drink champagne!
Thanks in big part to the f***ing Ushuaia and hi ? but we still have good party sometimes when we are on the right dance floor with the right people ?

Excellent result! I love this about Ibiza, it’s happened to us a few times.

Easier when in couples than lads obviously..
