ibiza 2019 observations

Exactly this, back in the day getting in the terrace early was great. As much as I have enjoyed the garden, for me early doors in the terrace is circoloco.

Agree, but suppose changing times and people want outdoors. I mean in my opinion that garden looks like a big beer garden in an English pub. The Terrace is unique.

I think this will purely be because I'm younger and haven't been going to Ibiza as long as you guys back when Circo started much earlier and the terrace was the focus, but I do have to agree with @MIA2IBZ that the garden for me (certainly the last 2/3 years) has been the most enjoyable part of the Circoloco experience. I think the sound and atmosphere out there is amazing on a good night!

There are a combination of reasons that I do feel like this; firstly, that the crowding levels inside when the garden closes have made the experience a lot less enjoyable, and believe me, I don't mind a packed nightclub but DC10 is the worst for this. Also in recent times and certainly from last season I just found the sound in both rooms, but particularly the main room, too loud and bassy and just poor in quality overall, but I believe that has partially been down to the old sound guy leaving. Finally, I suppose I've always viewed Circoloco as the Cocoon pre-party, always got in the venue earlier and was more than ready to leave around 1/2am when the terrace starts really getting going in the modern era.

I want to love Circoloco like I did when I first went back in 2013 but I do struggle with it a bit these days. I'm back on September 9th and our group is planning to do the entire stretch at Circoloco so I'll see how things are that night!

think we have to add that last night was circoloco's anniversary party which normally is the third busiest circoloco date of all summer, just after opening and closing. because as mentioned already a few times, circoloco this year so far has been bearable in terms of crowds.

august might change things though - one because island is usually busier and two because their august line ups look very strong.

That's what I'm hoping for @stivi - September 9th with a decent lineup (on top of Sven obvs already confirmed) and bearable crowd levels will bring back the love for a full night at Circoloco!

Yeah it's not that the terrace and main room weren't good, honey Dijon was killing it. It's just that everyone packs into both small rooms and it was just people constantly trying to.get by and pushing through.

If they kept the garden open then at least some people would stay there. As it is the garden was pretty slammed with no music.

Got tired of being pushed around and not being able to dance so left around 3.

the garden can't stay open with music after midnight due to local laws (which they usually only break for the closing)

the trick is to take it easy until the situation gets better - which normally is the case from about 4am onwards.

all that said I understand people that get annoyed. after many years I'm simply used to it nowadays, but I vividly remember how overwhelming my first dc10 visits were for me...but those were different times anyway...anyone remember the siren? :)

Isn't the sound law based on proximity to neighbors? Looks like their only neighbor is the airport, which is probably louder.

I still had a great time and experience and would def go again.

The siren and the netting. Also remember the people who would walk the road from d'en Bossa to get there. They were in no worse states than those who used to drive there to be fair!

no open air venue can have music after midnight.

tell you what, we live not too far from dc10. if I go to dc10 I can walk there in 20mins. we can always hear the music a little when the garden is open. yesterday either the volume was much higher or it was the wind direction (or a combination of both), but from our terrace we could actually identify the tunes played in the garden last night. I'm not saying this in any negative way, it's a mere statement.

the airport obvsiously also makes noise but it's not nonstop as is the case as with the music. the sound of the bassline really travels far. I personally don't mind, again just a statement.

I can picture you Stivi mulling over the state of the season so far with a drink in hand on the terrace, shades on. "Enjoy your DC10 people" as you stomp your cigarette out lol

Those were the days :spank: ... controls have put a stop to most of that which is no bad thing really, not least because the volume of cars on the roads has increased so much compared to how it used to be. Saved thousands on taxis (cumulatively) in years gone by without hurting any animals, pedestrians or other road users - there may have been a couple of minor vehicle kerbings along the way but never actually rolled one  Must admit not drinking or doing narcs makes life so much easier these days - never have to fear a glowing baton appearing in the headlights !!

You missed Carl Craig then. His first 20 mins was just bass, dont think he played a song in that time. Had high hopes but he really killed the vibe for us. Had us wondering if they had sound issues or he was off it or both
