ibiza 2019 observations

Dsquared2 is by twin brothers hence the name. Been going for ages but not british style, bit ed hardy blingy for us methinks.
some further explanation is required. not only are they identical twin brothers but their names, derek and dave, both begin with the letter d, hence dsquared! ( though dtimestwo would be mathematically more accurate)

On a serious note at another festival in Cork they are dropping like flies with some dodgy pills ? hospital are getting grief for tweeting for people don't take these if you do seek medical assistants. Be safe and know what you are taking.. Idiots tweeting So you are telling people to take drugs now WTF. Hospital tweeed No we are trying to save life's.

Great tunes last night from the Irish Berliners Flynn'ers, E.V.E and big things happening for Kev Sheridan with tracks out on Mauve and this the highlight of the night #youhearditherefirst. Will only be heard on certain balcony in October @ibiza not tech house ?

and another
Both equally brilliant.. @kimajy

You seriously haven't heard of Dsquared2 ? Been living in a box - the Reggaeton crowd no doubt bringing more of it in . Less affluent Napoli types will likely be in Superdry. Those with a tad more moolah are likely wearing Vetements, Gucci or Off White. Saint Laurent is strictly for the VIP rooms. ? Ushuaia check-in will be full of high end luggage more specifically Rimowa (especially Chinese / asian) or LV (everywhere there's money).

I'll be willing to bet O Beach pose-beds have Sink swimwear, Destino/Nobu Orlebar Brown, Armani & Vilebrequin, and PDB strip Gym King and SikSilk. And I haven't even considered the girls yet ! I may spend all day hiking around and swimming off far flung rocks but a casual eye cast around the airport tells quite a story !

I think dsquarred is (was) guetta's sponsor.
Orlebar shorts are very comfy but extortionate prices.

^^^ talking about the last three days, specifically.

And if I thought it was difficult up until now getting a legal parking space within 5minute walk of my apartment, the last week has been impossible whether I'm returning during the day, evening or middle of the night.

Is west end still open first week of October? (Aware it would be even less busy obviously)

Really ? Never knew that re Guetta !

I have a drawer full of OBs most of them bought in the end of Season sales for a fraction of usual price when remaining unsold sizes get sold off cheap - they are really nicely cut but only thing I don't like is that they need some stretch in the fabric and the sport models are too noisy/crinkly. Vilebrequin Merise model with stretch are really nice and not baggy like the drawstring waist ones, the fabric is awesome ?

In the end I am converted to 2 very small brands Ron Dorff and Castore. Castore is a sportswear brand but shorts dry much faster than most swimwear and it's amazingly stretchy (Marco or Reuben the best models depending on what length you want). They have zipped pockets and on Marco model these are bonded inside so they never hang down or separate. Also Made in Portugal and the fabric quality in incredible. The version 1.0 was even better. Ron Dorff regular sports shorts are also way better than most swimwear if you want something a little shorter (exerciser ones). Properly robust so you can use them doing anything active (swimming, rocks etc) and never any worry about them getting damaged, splitting etc. They also have stretch. Only downside no zipped pockets - and in both cases limited and plain colour choice.

Yes, they are expensive, but I have had some since 2012 and they are almost as good as new! However, the whole link-up with 007 / Bond I think is a bit too much.

The whole thing about Orlebar Brown was they designed swim wear that you could go from sea / pool to a restaurant / bar and still look smart. I think they have lost that a bit recently.

They also have some trainers that you can swim in, they drain and you can then continue using them outside on land! I kid you not it works. Brilliant for when swimming / snorkelling rocky areas that are hard to get to.

They diversified way too much but I have loads of their towelling tops, some trousers etc. and they're all good. Most of it looks smart for sure. Must admit I didn't get on with the shoes very well. I have some from Sperry which drain much better but both caused me blisters walking any distance. Actually now use trail running/OCR shoes that have great grip, drain well, they're fine to get wet and fingers crossed so far blister free running & hiking in and out of the sea ! Not sure about the aesthetics ? but taking a leaf out of @Don Simon 's book - comfort comes first  !!!

I restrained myself from posting a pic with bagetta, wearing one of their t-shirt . I think it was back in 2012.
Thanks for the tip; didn't know Ron Dorff and Castore. Will check them up.
Villebrequin was my favorite but they went mad, prices wise.

Possibly the worst "free advertising" a brand could hope for - well - apart from David Cameron wearing their shorts on holiday in Ibiza

Castore after the first collection now fits 'American' (those particular models I mentioned are a little trimmer than some). Ron Dorff fits small / European.

For Vilebrequin has to be a vente privee (veepee sometimes even get the embroidered ones alongside a lot of not so good stuff - I just buy all year round when things are good value and put into the drawer for later !).

Pure Pacha last night

Numbers wise, this was fairly busy - a lot busier than Dixon last Friday (26/07), but still not overly packed.

It's been commented before, especially from @mr_why I think, about the strange programming for this night - and we certainly had some interesting results!

Arrived for the last half hour of Tiga. When we first got there, he was playing that dark pop he does so well, but then ended on pretty hard techno (for Pacha on a Saturday night) for the last three or so tracks.

Handing over to Martin Solveig was always going to be an interesting one - and moreso now! He began on one of his older hit, Hello - quite the change of direction!!

We dipped in and out of the rest of his set, visiting the Funky Room which was good musically, but only a dozen or so people inside, and also a few stop on the rooftop. The rest of Solveig's set was an experience. He played everything from David Guetta, to classic Faithless and even Adam Beyer & Bart Skils' Your Mind(!!!) and Four Tet's remix of Nelly Furtado - plus loads of his own well known records, of course. Very weird mix. But I have to say, I didn't hate it.

Then at 04:30 it was time for Krystal Klear B2B Artwork - and this was what we were all most looking forward to. Pretty much as soon as Solveig had finished, a lot of the tourists left, and this worked just fine for me. Now more space to properly dance. Predictably, they were a class act and worked really well together. What I loved is that they obviously both worked really hard in that set, as well as enjoying themselves. Can't be certain of course, but if I had to guess, I would think both sober. Here's a few tracks from a clear highlight of the night:

(don't be put off by the label, Lifelike and Kris Menace still producing great tracks)

One last thing: Pacha's sound system still sounding incredible! I really love all of structural changes they've made the past two years.
