Music Festival
The projected ‘Festival Ibiza 123' was presented in Madrid last week by the organizer Pino Sagliocco. It will take place in the ses Variades area, near the ‘sunset strip', at the beginning of July and, according to the organizer, will be ‘rocktronic', a fusion between rock and electronic music. Top of the list of performers are Sting and Lenny Kravitz with renowned DJ's including David Guetta and Fatboy Slim in charge of the mixers. Many others have been approached and have still to confirm participation, including 2ManyDJs and Fonsi Nieto. Each evening will conclude with an ‘actual star' and a ‘rising star' and the event will be broadcast around the world. There will be a capacity for 20,000 people at the live event, but millions will be able to follow it on radio and television, including 5,000 radio stations in the United States.
Proceedings will begin at midday and continue until 12.30, when ‘after hours' will be held in discotheques Pachá, Amnesia, Space and Ushüaia. Tickets will be on sale from this Friday, the 16th of March and cost 65€ for one day and 150€ for all three. The event has been well received by all the political parties in the town and the authorities throughout the Island.
It is Sagliocco's company Live Nation which is organizing the event, with his list of clients including artists such as Madonna, Shakira, Rhianna, Coldplay, U2 and the Rolling Stones, to mention a few. He was the brains behind the concert in 1992* at Ku (now Privilege), where Duran Duran, and Spandau Ballet performed, and the incredible performance by Freddy Mercury and Monserrat Caballé with their Barcelona, is still being talked about twenty years later.
