Sexki11en - Sounds positive! I assume you’ve been to other places before, why was Ibiza better than previous holidays?

Only actually ever been to Gran canaria the year before. Have no idea what makes it so different.......try it yourself then see if you can explain it :P

dawnarmstrong - What makes you choose Ibiza over Tenerife for example?

I have been to Tenerife twice, and it doesn't even come close in comparison! Tenerife can be nice as well, there are some lovely areas, but the night life consists of a strip of tacky clubs / bars which come pretty similar to the west end, Ibiza has so much more to offer than that. I also think Tenerife has become so run-down and it is time for a make-over, whereas in my opinion Ibiza has been well maintained and up-dated, I can already see so many more new things compared to the last time I was there three years ago! :o I am so excited I cannot wait!

When my friends first told me that we were going to Ibiza for a weekend I was amazed...what the hell do I want to spend a weekend in sweaty nightclubs surrounded by kids who can't handle whatever they are trying to handle and drunk Brits all over the place draped in St George's flags (sorry if that's you).

One thing our generation should be more aware of is the power of the media and TV in particular, look at how we've been fooled over the last 12 months for example. So, Sky Uncovered have to make trashy, headline grabbing TV to attract paying viewes....so that's exactly the filters through which they presented Ibiza.

The place is wonderful in every sense, ask your lady to judge by what you see and read on this board not by percerptions she may have built up from the media.

I just can't wait.

I hope you manage to persuade her.

My husband is majorly into clubbing, I kinda like it but not as much as him. We came to Ibiza last year for our first time together for our honeymoon and have two more trips booked for this summer. It's such a varied place that no matter what you like you'll find it here whether it's chilling, walking, mad clubs or beautiful quiet beaches. The north of Ibiza is the place most families go who want a quiet night.
My husband and I aren't into the "Cooked English Breakfast" every day when away, we want to sample what Ibiza has to offer in the way of it's own culture, food and even the language (which I'm learning!!). you both have to enjoy your holiday to get a chance of coming back which is a must for all who've visited. Maybe a lonely planet guide book will help to persuade her. It will have all the off kilter things as well as the 'touristy' stuff.
I wish you luck on your quest :D
