I need help convincing my friend to go to Ibiza.

Well i want to go to ibiza this year, my friend is unsure, hes suggesting Zante, greece.

His complaints are, its too expensive (could have better holiday for less money in greece)

He wants a week of drinking and hooking up basically.

Everywhere he has looked is expensive for ibiza, flights etc, where do you guys book/stay?

Help my guys
 
Cheaper and better in June/September in my opinion. Sometimes better going independant, so many cheap flights available these days. Ibiza is do-able on a budget. Im not exactly made of money. Perhaps if your friend is wanting to just go on the pull you would be better going with someone else or alone? If thats all he is interested in he might do your head in the whole time you are there or hold you back?

There are plenty other places to go on holiday, but its pretty much got me hooked. I would rather stick pins in my eyes than waste money on Zante/Magalluf etc.
 
The way I like to tell people who think that is, Ibiza has Zante, Magaluf etc. in one street, therefore if your expecting that everything else, which is obviously alot is a bonus and by the end you will be going elsewhere and doing what you wouldn't in the scumbag places. As for money, go Thomas Cook etc. now and book up for 250 notes, double that for spending. Happy Days. Do it.

P. S. - Maguluf has got one club hasn't it ? BCM ? And that sounds horrific, I base that on the fact that you get a free hat and it has foam parties. Been there once on holiday in Cala D'or with the fam.
 
I would just find a new friend ( or go it alone!) if all he wants is drinking and hooking up. He may be better off in Greece, if he doesn't care much for the clubs (which is what is so expensive!)

You dont' want to have someone moaning about prices and ruining your fun!

Exactly! And as Phil says cheaper in June and Sept! utagaura has a point too if all he wants is drinking and hooking up then he isn't going to want to go anywhere but the west end? and that would be a tragedy for you if you had to spend your whole holiday there!

For cheap flights have a look at www.skyscanner.net. There's loads of cheap apartments around, you don't have to spend a lot.

Ibiza's got so much more going for it than your average Brits abroad resort. I've had some lovely holidays in quiet parts of Greece, soaking up the sun, culture etc but drinking/pulling hotspots like Faliraki and Malia...urrrgh.
 
Im in exactly same situation. Went to Ibiza last year but my mates want to go to malia this year. Im just gonna probably go it alone,meet loadsa new people and Iknow i'll have a great time cos Ibiza is amazing!!

Maybe he has a point, i wouldn't mind going to Ibiza this year but it's a total rip off when you compare it to some other holiday resorts, if it wasn't like €10 a drink8O in clubs and sometimes up to €50 admission that would be great but it drains the cash from you, last year i spent €150 on 15 bottles of Sol in El Divino :evil: you'd get the same in the supermarket for under €15, scandalous how they are allowed get away with it.

It's not all about (for me anyway) paying mad money into some club so they can make a massive profit and pay some ego driven DJ's wages (and for his coke habit) sometimes you'll find some of the smaller underground clubs are far better than the so called super clubs out there, big doesn't' always equate to being best ..;)
 
If your not into big clubs, big DJ's and brilliant TUNES then Ibiza def aint the place for you!!
To me its all about the music!! and everytime ive been to these big clubs ive well got my monies worth!!
I get away for one big holiday each year, might as well go all out and make it a good un!!:D

I'm a Raver mate, maybe im too old skool (going since 1990) but all this big clubs/big DJj's thing is irrelevant to me, Carl Cox is probably still my favorite DJ and he is probably the biggest DJ there is but i could have as good a time in a sweaty underground club that holds 100 people (and ive had some of the best nites ever in small underground clubs)than i could in a fancy club that holds thousands, i liked Ibiza when i was there but it's gone too expensive & commercialized in recent years, everyone wants a slice of it, unfortunately that's dance music in general,you can blame the likes of Ministry Of Sound,etc for that:arrow:

I like to mix it up a bit tbh, the clubs are pretty incredible, but that said so are the prices. but like i said before, there are ways to do ibiza without spending a fortune. if you do convince your mate to go, or find someone else to go with, or indeed decide to take the plunge and go on your own, this website is an absolute goldmine for tips on good places to eat and drink which wont break the bank, and ways to get around spending tonnes of cash. if you plan properly and do your research and are careful when you are ther, theres absolutely no need to spend a fortune. theres good places in the west end to go which dont cost a fortune, you can get pished before you go out, you can get taxi money refunded, you can get guestlists, you can even offset the cost of a night in pacha by treating yourself to a nice meal there etc. etc. etc.

people on here will be more than happy to help you plan your trip to your tastes so stick around :)
 
I still say go it alone!! I've done it more than once! no friends whining they want to go home early... or complaining that the water is too expensive... or not wanting to get up until its too late to get to the beach etc etc etc

You will meet loads or people... but if you want alone time you can just go back to your hotel and stay there for as long or as little as you like!
 
Anyone that says anything has gone "too commercial" is a tit, FACT. Just for your information. My Ibiza holiday this cost me £195 quid in peak times :D plus I gotta get insurance which will cost a fiver. Spending about £ 300 - £ 500. Boooooookah !
