I am interested in retiring to Ibiza

I am seriously considering my retirement. Despite being about 40 years tooearly, I am interested in retiring to Ibiza. The sun, the clubs, and the close proximity to the airport and the rest of Europe are what attracted me after my first vacation there this past August. Oh, wait, almost forgot about the Pacha girls, too.

As soon as I can secure my retirement funds, how would I go about finding a nice place to live and making a go of it on the White Isle? What are the prices for property in Ibiza compared to other parts of Spain?

The Baleares now has the highest used home housing prices in Spain. A report released last week showed that used home prices had risen by 16% in the last year & that the cost per metre was around 2097€ per square metre. The average for Spain is 1772€ per square metre. Supposedly it was calculated that the average couple earning average wages have to work for 30 years paying each year 50% of their salaries to buy a normal sized home on the island.

Prices are to high for property right now (everywhere in Europe), wait a few years and they will return a bit to a more normal price (in Germany prices are starting to drop) and one can expect a drop in europe ... (djee, sometimes it is acuatlly usefull to go to economic classes )

despite of having also nearly 40 years, it sound fantastic.

we could grow old together and spend our last days in Ibiza

That's okay, there will be plenty of Pacha girls to go around for the both of us.

I guess with the high price of housing I'll have to find a sugar mama in order to have a proper retirement.

i'm doing it in 2 years time and i've got two kids to consider..............eivissa is the only place i wanna be so i don't see the point in not just living there permanently. 2,3 or more holidays a year won't suffice for me - it has to be all or nothing.

personally, i'm counting down the days until i'm out of the UK rat race.

guess i'll see you in the queue for a residency card!!

happily paris, in 40 years time your interest in sun, clubs and pacha girls will have waned to a level where the dearth of these activities for most of the year will not bother you..........

i haven't seen a pacha girl abroad for several months now. in fact about the same lenght of time i haven't seen the sun! the weather's been awful.

Paris we definitly have to speed things up ... cause over the years gravity will do no positive things to us or the Pacha girls

the only positive thing of beeing 65 + in Ibiza would be that we could get some "old mans quad" (self powered wheel chair) and do not have problems finding a parking lot in Eivissa town area in august

I plan to be luring and dribbling over the pacha girls way before I'm 65! I want to be a sugarmama before 40 - all Pacha girls will be welcome, given they wear those little cherry pasties.

I felt the same way when I saw it - it was the perfect place for me! A little bit country, a little bit rock n roll, the beach, the sun ... far away but not too far to get away from it all. The pace was so perfect there, and then for four months it's party central!

we (me and the wife!) both know the island fairly well having worked there for the season in various years.

we know more or less where we wanna live (eivissa/talamanca area) but a lot depends on schools, cos obviously we wanna be living close to the school the kids are going to.

initially, we're gonna rent out there and see how it goes, we'll be renting out the houses we've got in england at the same time so the profit from that will cover any rent paid in ibiza. whilst kids are school age........ideal place would be talamanca i think
