How's Your Year Been? (2024)

Appreciate I'm a bit late to the party on all of this as it is now next year already, but my highlights/lowlights below

The Bad
  • Cancer. My partner was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer back in May, just before her 50th birthday and just before we were due to go to Iceland to celebrate. To say it was a shock was an understatement, a small lump that she ignored for a while turned out to be something a lot more serious. She was quickly taken into hospital for a super invasive op, followed by a month of recovery, followed by 5 weeks of absolute hell via radiotherapy which she is still recovering from. Easily the hardest thing she or I have ever been through, and my admiration for the way she dealt with it knows no bounds.
  • Work. Looks like things are winding down with the company that I'm currently at, so likely to be out of a job come June-ish
  • Ibiza. Not this year for obvious reasons
  • Exercise. Nope.
The Good.
  • Cancer. She beat it- we had the amazing news that my partner is all clear back in November- the euphoria from that was higher than any pill could ever give. She will get monitored for the next 5 years to check it doesn't come back, but for now, we are breathing a bit easier.
  • The NHS. Look, it gets a lot of crap, and justifiably so a lot of the time. However, I can categorically say that from the initial GP, to the surgeons, to the radiotherapists, to everyone in between were all incredible. There is no doubt that all of those people saved her life, and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
  • Experiences. Despite the Big C dominating the year, we still managed plenty of gigs, comedy nights and the like. I was very lucky to have a friend that got me into Glastonbury for the Saturday night so I could see Coldplay once again, and I look forward to being back to doing the full 5 days again in 2025
  • Travel. Despite the diagnosis, we still travelled to Iceland to celebrate my partner's birthday and had the most incredible time. It was our second time and it was just as amazing as the first. I know it's expensive, but if you ever get the chance, please do go and experience it.
  • Studies. I'm now just an 8,000 word dissertation away from getting my MBA later this year, 2024 saw me crack through all the coursework and get ready for the final stretch
  • Friends and family. Going through something like cancer really shows you who is a real friend to you, and we both saw that from people close to us in 2024, they stepped up and were around when we needed them and kept their distance when it was best. It's so important to surround yourself with good people where possible
In general, 2024 can do one, but we have so many plans in already for 2025 that we will hopefully make up for a lost 6 months.

Finally, please, all of you, if you feel anything unusual with your body, please go and get it checked out. Even if you have to battle through doctor's receptionists at 8am, it really could save your life. Believe me, we've been there, and without doing that, I could be writing a much different recap of last year.

Big love x

Hi gang! Sorry i havent been around the past few, its been a crazy. I'll give you the short version as I'm on mobile. Made it to the island, saw some old friends and made some new, my MIL passed away, work has been good (promotion and more $), finished out the year strong with the family in Hawaii.

Looks like I've got a bunch to get caught up on here. I hope you're all doing well and have a great 2025.

Haven't posted for a little while, at least a couple of years here. But as I'm going to Ibiza this year, thought I'd jump back on. Hi all!

My 2024 has had quite some ups and downs.
Got engaged while in Thailand to my girlfriend of (at that point) 9 years in February, which was the big high.
The big low came when she left me for one of our mutual friends in our group in early November.

Stag do was planned for Ibiza later on this year, that's still going ahead. It was all booked up, may as well crack on and make a lads trip out of it.

Running has taken a big point in my life the last 12 months, running at least four days a week now. Did the Hackney Half and got a new PB of 2h5m, hoping to beat that in 2025. Ran 185km in December, the most I've ever run in a month. Not sure I've ever felt this fit and healthy.

Rest of the year was good, plenty of festivals (Glastonbury being the highlight, again). Only ran two events for my club brand this year. It's a tough market out there at the moment it must be said,

Sounds rough mate, sorry you've had that on your plate.

Too right mate, want nothing to do with either of them.

Yeah, it was. But doing well now, have hit the ground running in 2025, lots to look forward to, and just enjoy being me again!

Thanks mate!

Thanks Buckley 😀 really appreciate you tagging me in this post and apologies for missing it.

I wont bore everyone with my dull and tedious life. Unless you are struggling to sleep, then I’m the man you need to hear 😄 slide into my DMs.

One thing I will say though, I got a new phone some time ago and didn’t bother logging back into all of the usual social media stuff I used to follow and scroll through. Including this forum 😬 (sorry! I don’t know how you all find the time keep up with it. Fair play to you all for keeping it going though 🫶)

My general happiness and productivity have been immense.

Hope you’re all keeping well amigos 😀🙌

Summer 2025 is just around the corner…..

Excitement level - 💯
