How to run a night? Or not....?

Standard p1ssing about for some London house promoters. Saw the furore on DSI at the time and sacked of sharp practice.

Used to work for them, for 5 years no less. Left 12 months ago. Seems to have just followed on from the reasons I jumped ship, but worse. Just don't get the whole ethos of trying to put an event on like that any more.

Anyway, trust you're well sir :)

Did you write the article? Cos you do come across as a whinging maoner with a petty grudge? Hearing you used to work for them just confirms this TBH.

What are you trying to get at Dan? Come on, stop sitting on the fence:lol:

Guy, meet Dan. Dan, Guy.....

I've known loads of clubs employ dodgy practices.
I can't mention names as is won't do myself any good in the long term, but I have known clubs allow their dj's guestlists for their friends, and then when their friends turn up, charge them more than the normal entrance fee just to get in (no-one wants to miss their mate playing a big club).

I've also been booked to play a last set at a big club, then with 10 minutes to go before I start, been moved to another room, to play for less than 20 minutes to about 10 people. It cost me more in travel expenses than I was paid for the gig.

I've had a club deliberately turn friends of mine away from the door, despite them having free entry wristbands (which was part of the deal when I agreed to host the room), then the management deliberately turned on a smoke machine to the point no-one could see anything in the room, thereby evacuating a room in minutes. Let's just say that my revenge that night (along with a very good friend of mine who was dj'ing with me), was to urinate ALL NIGHT in the dj box (very childish I know, but there aren't many ways to get back at a squad of bouncers and club owners).

I've got a lot of other stories that I could never go into.

BUT, let me also say, that there are some FANTASTIC promoters who have treated my friends and I with the utmost respect and professionalism, notably clubs like Inside Out, Ministry, Progression etc.

No, I didn't Dan. I have worked for 4clubbers for 4 years in London, but this was written by another of our writers, who concentrates on the Hard Dance side of things, Greg Lynn. I do all the house, techno reviews, and interviews. Nice to meet you by the way :)

I don't have a grudge, I'm not moaning. If you want to

a) prejudge without having given me a chance, that's cool.
b) hear some moaning, I suggest you look at what the punters had to say about the event and not me:

Can't remembe the last time something like that ran into 30 pages.

:)
