Hey guys,I've been to ibiza last year and I remember myself being able to talk inside amnesia while the music was playing...
Since ibiza tho in israel I went to clubs who played at130dB for sure and my ears are f***ed...not only tinitus but if anyone clap before me it hurts my ear...not even earplugs help me at the clubs but there is some clubs who plays on a normal volume that I can handle with earplugs...now I was wondering if you guys know if the play really loud in ibiza or not...becuase I don't remember and I really wanna come back to ibiza again...and if its too strong for me , then I'll might never to able to club again /;

Cheers,

/m0sh

It's not about the volume, it's about the clarity of what you hear.

You can talk to someone in the main room in Space because their Funktion One system is one of the best on the planet with perfect frequency range at loud volume. So you don't get huge bass distortion, which is normally why people can't hear each other and why your ears will ring afterwards.

Amnesia and Space have absolutely awesome sound systems.
Bizarrely, the better a system (eg Cocoon in Germany), the less full-on it will seem, as they are not pushing bottom end frequencies at you.

Enjoy, because Space, Amnesia & Pacha have excellent sound systems (although some may argue with Pacha, I think it's top notch)

Not surprised, if it is 130dB that's in the threshold of pain. Only supposed to be able to listen to up to 120dB's

(science don't you know.)

Why do people always think bass damages your ears?

Not only is it just scientific knowledge that it's acutually high frequencies that damage your ears, it's also really apparant to me.

I can cope with a 3kW bass system running at 20-250hz and be fine, but high-frequencies really hurt my ears, even at quite low volumes.

Earplugs for DC10

It is loud in DC10, early in the day it is fine outside and loud inside.

Late afternoon when I went back in last year it was pounding. Deep, thundering bass that shakes you inside in the main room.

You can try to escape to the terrace but it's really high pitched out there, it felt like enough to break glass.

Solution?

A quick taxi ride to Ibiza Town and a trawl around the DJ shops, arriving finally at a bemused chemist who had a stock of earplugs.

Don't leave home without them!

Went back in and the volume heard was loud, fine though but hard to hear what your mates were saying. Best to just get lost in the music.

This may seem crazy but at the time it was necessary, did have my taxi hijacked by a random Aussie bird who had been working very close to where I live in Sydney.

All the other clubs are fine for noise. More on the Space terrace would be perfect, here's looking to this year.

Well yeah high frequencies kills me know (that's clapping and screams and such) but earplugs can hardly keep the bass away , I just feel it...

I'm still not sure if I'm up to a party since I can't party in israel...my earplugs can reduce up to 30dB and you can't get better... /;

Ear plugs are definitely a sound investment. Pacha and inside at DC10 are a little on the loud side, but not intolerable, Space is just about perfect.

We have a guy here in Dallas that takes a custom mold of your ear and develops earplugs with custom filters. They run about $150 but everyone I know that has them says the sound is much better. I might invest in a pair before heading to Ibiza this summer.

I told u guys , I'm using earplugs but in some clubs in israel it just doesnt help...if it wont help in ibiza then im doomded /;

I got a pair out of a guitar shop for about £20 and they aren't a bad job, they affect the sound quality slightly (cut out some treble) but not too badly. There is also a part that they claim can be changed for different noice levels, although I have never tried doing this. I was a bit paranoid that they would look daft sticking out of my lugs at first but people don't seem to notice or don't say anything if they do.

Privilege sounds like in a big arena, not like in a club or discotheque, but the Coco Loco room sounds pretty powerful. The best regarding sound is the inner room of Space (as Stu meant, crystal clear sounds even with a loud volume level). Amnesia, has great sound systems too, mainly inside (although I prefer the terrace). Pacha has a very good sound system but it produces reverberation on walls or columns in some places, so I don't like being in some places of it. :roll: Lucifer has a nice sound system, but with a little weak low frequencies, as it's underneath a hotel. Anfora has a good sound system too. However depending on night, the music might be crap or real good (the DJ Vicente is very good playing electro and minimal). Attention in Anfora to the chill-out room, formerly a huge bird cage, not to mistake it for the dark room ;). It's gorgeous!! Just like a Moroccan palace. Plus the dancefloor is located inside a real cave! A straight one might feel uncomfortable in this club, unless he's with her g/f or wife. I think it deserves a visit on a good music night.

Don't know about Penelope, the new big club which maybe I'll check out this summer, nor about Es Paradis, Eden, El Divino (these 3 clubs aren't appealing for me at all), and DC10 (still my must do, another year again).

3 of the best
I really hope they are not that loud...I can't remember becuase my ears were fine last time I was there...now they are f***ed big time.

I brought some custom earplugs and I wear them everytime i go out cos my ears ring constantly! Its not noticable most of the time but if im sitting in bed I can just hear ringing. But i spose 9 years of clubbing / Djing have taken their toll.

But what really f***ed my ears was a Guns and Roses tribute band 8O . both me and my mate couldnt hear a thing when we left.

Opps 8O
