How long til' you go?

4 days now. Just booked a car too- how the hell are they so cheap? I've paid £8 for a week, and then £12 excess insurance- bonkers money

what you paid is basically a reservation fee. if you booked via a broker the excess insurance will not be recognised by the rental company.

they will try and upsell you insurance at around €20 per day. if you dont take out their insurance then any damages they find on returning the car will be taken from your credit card.

lots of people feel duped by this process, but think about it another way.

if you had a car worth at least €5k, would you lend a complete stranger that car for a basic charge of £5 a day if they promised they had their own insurance?
 
We paid around £8 for 5 days last year. Pick up was the other side of the port where the cruise and freight ships dock. I was sceptical to be honest but went with it. The price was correct and everything was fine to my surprise. I will say i paid the normal fee for the full excess cover though which was around £50. As said above i would question the insurance price. Car hire cost i can believe because i have done it myself but the cheap insurance i would be inclined to question.

I'm happy with it, it's with Interrent, so direct, and have also claimed my excess back from the insurance company that I am using in the past with no issue. I've no problem with them taking any excess from my credit card once I give it back in if they find a tiny scratch, am confident that the insurance company will refund me. As far as interrent are concerned, I'm liable, the getting it back from my insurance comany is my problem
