How is everybody?

Havent been around here for a while. After a week in Torrevieja, Spain I came back to a computer full of trojan horses, virus, etc. Lost my internet connection etc. Had the best brains on the case and my Windows has been totally highjacked. Still not fixed yet (needs a re-install of Windows). I'm currently using my old Tiny laptop with dodgy screen.

At the same time this happened with the desktop my gigging laptop fell over while trying to update a driver. Luckily I always keep regular backups of the music database. I ended up installing Windows Media Centre Edition. Wow! So much faster and much more responsive.

Two weeks ago my old Microwave conked out and had to go and buy a new one costing £100 (with grill & oven). Experimenting with the oven and cooking a greater variety of food now (haven't had an oven in years, bound to put on more weight now  ).

Last Tuesday I accidently stood on my glasses and wrecked them  . They were 3 years old and needed replacing anyway (they cost over £300!). So, Wednesday morning dived into Specsavers and came out £340 out of pocket for a new pair of fancy designer glasses. Don't get them til next week (can't wait), struggling 'round the house with an old pair from 5 years ago and contacts for when I go out.

I've also changed the software I use to gig with two weeks ago. I now use Traktor DJ Studio 3. I have just got a new dinky MIDI controller from Germany (£168 ) for it this week (which looks like a DJ mixer and sits on the laptop), as now all the mixing is done inside the computer and there is no need for an external mixer (except for a microphone). Technology marches forward. Been mixing and messing about with the effects all week with the new setup (and struggling to read the manual due to previous para) I'll be using it in my gig Friday night. :D Looking forward to it...........and only needing to carry the laptop bag and another small bag with controller, microphone and headphones with a few backup CD's............yay!!! :p

What else can I moan about?.........ah yes car tax is due Friday.

Anybody wanna lend me a few quid?

Hey Les... I'd been wondering where you disapeared to.

Sounds like you're a trainwreck at home

How are the regular gigs going? Making enough $$ to pay for all this stuff?

Regular gigs have been going thru some changes. Fridays have been dire for about 1 1/2 years, it's the same for everyone. Just had my hours moved back to earlier starts with the consequential drop in money. However, we have two nightclubs that have started 'Club Wars'. We are a warmup bar for the biggest one (holds 1100). They have just started free entry on fridays and £1 for a DOUBLE Vodka & Redbull and a few other drinks. It's working, the last 2 Fridays have been the busiest for a very long time. Hopefully I'll get my hours and my money restored in the next few weeks, although Saturdays may start to suffer.

Sunday nights at the new venue I took on are going from strength to strength. I usually start the night with loads of House music and progress to big room Trance by the end of the night. Last Sunday a guy came up to the booth 15 minutes before closing. Thought he was coming for a request, he said 'Jesus, you've played some ****ing big tunes tonight, it was fantastic and can I shake your hand'. Great when people appreciate you like that (must of been my Tiesto impression).

Hi Soulman

Welcome back!

It's incredibly dead here at the moment tho, no one seems to be posting that much. Probably because the 'community' is being oppressed!!

i dont know who this wolfy is, but i think the comparison to che is a little off - i'm not planning a rebellion, just stating the obvious.

Obviously some kind of Southwest London folk hero, going by this photo... he's standing outside of the Tooting Broadway Tube station, the name of which still gives me a slight giggle
