How bad is it?

Help. I have been going off for years telling my friends how good Ibiza is, and it may have come back to haunt me. Now they all want to go next year and have already booked (one of them is pregnant this year so cant go). There wanting me to go and committ already. But after hearing how bad some stuff is this year I'm really scared. The most disturbing thing to me is how you can be searched by the police for no reason, or took back to a room for no reason. I used to think Space was the best club I have ever been to but I can't imagine it's to much fun when there is tons of security around and dancing a little to much or acting like your having to much fun is a cause for trouble by security. Are there no laws in Spain regards for peoples personal rights? Can they really strip search you at random just because your walking to a club? How bad is it really with regards to all of this?
 
I think I need to stop reading Spotlight because lots of things are pretty negative and seem to be on a downer.

I'm still planning on going in September and will report back then.

I know some people too who have never been and want to go this year or next and I worry that they will never get the 'magic' of what it was.

Of course I could go in September and have a blast!

Anyway, i'm no help here am I? :lol:
 
i wouldnt worry, just because some people have had a bad holiday it doesnt mean you and your friends will. Me and my mate are going for the first time on sunday. Im realy excited and expect i will have a fantastic time. Even so at least i will be able to say i have done ibiza at least once. People who say magic has gone blah blah blah are usualy the veterans who get all nostalgic and all. Theres always been a few horror stories about ibiza. Just try and stay away from the negative posts and dont read too much into them. The holidays what you make it so stay positive!!....your on your ****in hols afterall!!
 
iv been for past 4 years and this years was no different....its still amazing out there, i had such a good laugh. dont listen to what people tell u....this board has gone very negative...yes there are changes but they didnt affact my hols.

regarding the strip searches.....one of my mates got stripped searched out side dc10 and they even give him the glove treatment (and they found his sniff lol)...surely this cant be alowed though and surely there is a law against strip searching on the side of the road...its not on...u would never get away with it here

So what happened to your friend who got busted?? Did they make a full arrest? Fine...?

This is one of my MAJOR worries for the forthcoming season! :(
 
well surely the obvious answer to your preoccupations is don't do anything illegal? apart from the odd parking stuff i'm happy to say i've never once been bothered by the police, arrested, fined, stripped, searched or generally had my collar felt.
 
imagine being on a holiday with your girlfriend heading to space...the police stops you and not only strip search you but use the glove too...:roll:
they do this to everyone???is there any way to avoid it?
i mean i wouldn't let ANYONE even my doctor do that...

they do not do it to anywhere near anyone.

we saw one guy passing something to his friend on their way to the WLS queue - jumped on by undercover police.

we walked past the uniformed in the car park & they were eyeing us up - a very very nervous moment! i'd say you have a 5% chance of being stopped tops.

don't think so...i think it's your good or bad lucky
me be your sunglasses don't like to the policeman or you seemed very nervous, or you walk fast, or slow to seemed you aren't doing any ilegal
 
I have no idea what you have been reading or what you´ve been told but the security here in Ibiza is not any different to what it has ever been.

I think that Ibiza is getting a severe battering from people at the moment and i´m not sure why.

I have not once witnessed any over the top security checking, or people being taken away from the dancefloor because they "dancing a little to much or acting like your having to much fun".

This is ridiculous. If you are caught taking or selling drugs then yes, you will probably be taken outside and thrown out ... why is this different to any other club in the world ! Just because this is Ibiza doesn´t mean that everyone has a right to take drugs openly in clubs.

If this is your main concern about going to Ibiza ... DON´T TAKE DRUGS ...

It upsets me that there is so much good about Ibiza for everyone to focus on - not least the fantastic clubs, parties and people - that all people can find to talk about is getting caught with drugs down their pants.

So far this season has been brilliant and my best summer yet, and it´s only early July.

There is way too much negativity on this forum at the moment and it needs to be put in perspective. Thousands of people will go to Ibiza for the first time this summer and leave having the best time of their life.
 
You make it sound like the glove treatment is something that happens regularly.

In all the weeks i go to Space, which is at least twice a week and every Sunday, i have seen one person taken over for a strip search ... and this was at the Space closing party last year i think.

For the opening and closing parties, there are more police present and probably more searches but to make it sound like everyone is going to be strip-searched is very mis-leading.

almost everybody that has been this year sound like that...it sounds scary...:roll:
 
it is quieter but it's still a great place...

I admit I cut down the clubbing and upped the hours spent lazying at the beach, but if you know where to go the island is still vibrant...

Monza/Cocoon/Azuli Secret Parties/KM5/Sundays at Space are more alive than ever, and especially... they have an older/better/sexier crowd.

Well that's fine for you Steve, but some of us will/do these things, I just need to know what the implications are...?!

Anyone know anymore on this??
 
I went in early June (for the 3rd time) and had a great time. Trust me, there's nothing like the crackdown on drugs you might have heard considering the number of obviously out of it people in the clubs! The worst I've seen a bouncer do is tell someone to put their shirt back on. :lol: I have seen police doing random searches in San An's west end - but just bags and stuff; no finger up the bum.
 
I read the same old reports last year!! it was still a great season? besides, it's obvious what ppl are up to so what you expect - just let it go on? They are sending a message out to all the people who are taking the piss, just let the dust settle and im sure it will fine! strip searches are OTT although how many ppl will think twice about carrying stuff now? this is the message they want to send out!

this happened at the end of the season in 05 and there were guardia civil everywhere in the cub too...they were definately on top

i do think this was a one off as all the time i have been going to ibiza i have only been searched once and that was at space closing when there was a large police presence.

i never really worry when im approaching the clubs, if im searched then im searched. i have not seen or do not know of any other people that have been strip searched.

my mate had 1g of charles,they just took it off him and give him a good bollocking (quite scary). then let him on his way..think i can remember some paperwork taking place but not sure what

but back to the main thing
