Hotel Garbi Question

Does anyone know why Hotel Garbi is so cheap compared to other "4 star" hotels in the Ibiza Town/PDB area ? I realize it was recently upgraded, but am a bit baffled at the low price. Anyone stayed there recently ?

the owner is a private german guy.far as i know.yes it was ungraded last year.ok the food is not all english.but you should get a good meal out of what is on offer.(breakfast/dinner)..mainly germans but you get a right mixed lot staying in this hotel.

i have never stayed there.i stay next door.but friends always say its spot on.been in a few times for a drink and watch night shows.very nice in side.
hotel is just in the right spot.across road bars shops ect.and backs on to the beach.if you have got a good price go for it...when you going out.

If you are looking for a hotel in that area Garbi is very good value. Other hotels I have staid at in the same area are Es Vive and Sirenis Jabeque (sp?). If I was to stay in the same area again it would be at Garbi.

Keep in mind that the prices listed on this website are per-person/per-night, not per room. The rooms are all twins/doubles. So the price range is from 106-120 euros/night in June/September to 180-200 euros/night in August.

Even so, Garbi is great value. We've stayed there in each of the past 3 summers. The rooms are a good size. The kitchenette always useful. The location is great. The balconies are a great place to chill while looking out at the sea. Free Wifi so I always bring the laptop along.

I almost never eat there but, to be honest, I wasn't especially thrilled with the breakfast the couple of times I've made it down to try it. That was pre-upgrade though so hopefully they'll work on that.

Some of the rooms face away form the sea sort of and you get a street view some sea and the lovely vista of PDB, if you get beach side thats better, otherwise its a good hotel -- handy for bora bora and space and walkable to eivissa in comfy shoes (or back at 8 am), i had a great time there last year. It also has a late bar below Club Garbi which is... well... there.

Couple of my mates stayed there last year, its basic but nice and clean. Pool is like a puddle and it looks like it is in the middle of wasteland. There is better hotels to stay in for similar prices. Near by is the San Fora apartments, similar in standards but with a better pool, bar and atmosphere.

Ibizaibizachickenpizza is obviously talking about the wrong hotel!!
Garbi has a great pool, is in the middle of Playa den Bossa and I've never heard of the San Fora apartments anywhere nearby!

I think it's important to keep in mind that, according to the website, the Garbi has been refurbished. The website no longer talks about the kitchenettes in the rooms so they might be gone. Also, it looks like there is new furniture as well. I've never been before, but I'm staying there this year. It will be interesting to hear what people say once they start staying there in a couple of months. I think reviews from those people will prove the most relevant given the renovation.......

Hmm... that's actually a very good point.

It used to be called Aparthotel Club Garbi but the website now just says Hotel Club Garbi.

That would be very disappointing... let us know, woody!

... The website no longer talks about the kitchenettes in the rooms
so they might be gone ...
i was afraid that this would happen:
www.spotlight-forums.com/showpost.php?p=1179020&postcount=9

if the kitchenettes are really gone it would be very very sad.

garbi was ok, the rooms were basic and not too big ...
so i don´t know how they could achieve a "4star"-status ?!?

maybe they enlarged the rooms and to do this
they threw out the kitchenettes (and especially the nice icecold refrigerators) ...
... oh this would sukc very badly :-(

update:
this article (www.diariodeibiza.es/secciones/noti...sa-convierte-establecimiento-cuatro-estrellas)
says that the garbi still has refrigerators :-))
... and the upgrade to 4stars causes a 20% price-increase compared to last year.

on the left of garbi (looking from the street), as you might know, new private apartments are being built. the building info wall says they would be finished in august this year, but looking at the current situation, i cannot imagine they will finish in time. here's a pic taken from the beach, with one of garbi's wings on the left and the building site just beneath it
