This is what i see as the word 'Native' meaning and im pretty sure Small Jinx meant this too.

Im getting fed up of people taking the board too seriously and people getting arsey all the time because people take things the wrong way.

I like the way a discussion about someone being mugged in the West End turned into a heated diatribe about nationality, regionality and what linguistics are politically correct to categorise such a variety. Oh...and oranges!!!

Try walking thorugh Gothic Centre Barcelona at 6 in the morning looking like a tourist, then you will really see "Natives" at work.

Soemtimes if you think a little more about the consequences, you can avoid the trouble that comes your way!!

I'm just blethering now. Cannot wait for Evissa on the 16th September. Bora Bora on Sat, DC10 on Mon. KM5 and Khumarras in between for some brilliant Argentian steaks!!

Vale is correct isn't it. Means okay, cool, thanks but is more Catalan. I lived in Castedefells for 8 months and commuted to Passeig de Gracia . Used to always say that to try and be nice. So hope it was cool.

Loved Barcelona, but did get a little scared at times walking through La Rambla. Also Liceu metro was a bit dodgy at times.

Vale means OK or cool but sounds weird as a Thanks. Use it as an agreement and you won't go wrong. And it's actually wrong in catalan
My mom lives one square from Passeig de Gracia Renfe station
At the moment Barcelona is diying of success and we are having big big problems of "incivisme" and now a days it's quite anoying walking around Barri Gotic, with people sleeping in the streets, using the small ones as wc, people going half naked around town, etc etc. But the alarm is on and the city council it's supposed to be working to solve it.

BTW, the new media icon in spain is called "Neng de castefa" (Castefa=Castelldefels) and it's a parody of the catalan techno kid that eats lots and lots of pills, loves tunned cars and all that

Hola Sylvia, que tal.

That's quite funny with regards to the Castedefells. It was quite a mad little place but I liked it. I worked right beside the RENFE PDG station, just quite near the Banco Sabadell on Carrer de Consell de Cent. Favourite nightclub was Terrazza on a Thursday night, but always made for very hard days at work on the Friday. We would always end up at a place called The Art Cafe on the corner of Claris and Consel de Cent.

Loved it. Beautiful city. Wish I learnt more Catalan!!

I don't make a point of asking people where they were born, so sorry I can't give you a true answer on that one.

But hey I'm guilty , hang me. By using term "natives" I was generalising by use of the tar brush. If I really meant to incrimate true Evissenc's (spelling ) then I would have said so instead of using "natives".

Another point to make is freedom of speech, I'm pleased that Sil has spoken out. We are all able to communicate effectively to try to help each other understand the others views, ways of life, figures of speech, etc.

Never really had any trouble in Ibiza. One year, these guys going around in one of the ambulance cars spat on me and my mate. All we were doing was chilling by the ebach having a beer. Obviously they associated us with the Brits abroad w##kers that normally cause hassle. Treat the West End in Ibiza like you would any dodgy city centre in UK. It's not going to be safe really!

Anyway, my advice would be to stay away from West End full stop, get yourself over to Ibiza Town and realise what Ibiza is 'really' about!

If I've been abroad and I've seen "Brits abroad w##kers that normally cause hassle", I steer clear as I am wholly embarrassed that people may think I am the same
