My 1st ever last day before Christmas in an Office.

Having previously only worked in retail this is a bit of a culture shock. This time last year I was knocking my pan out doing 12 hour shifts wondering when Id get a break.

Im quite happy to report that this year, as I type, Im sitting with a plate of food from a Buffet my supervisor kindly laid on, everyones chilled out and having fun, and decent music is on. Ok, the rest of the year is boring as hell but for once I can sit back and reflect on how much my life has improved since last year!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I quite liked working in retail up to Christmas cos it really gets you in the mood for Christmas and the days used to go soooooo quick.

Why did you quit working retail then?

Because it was just part of my Graduate Management Programme with Tesco, the first year you went into store as a Trainee Manager and then after you'd completed that you had to specialise in one of a variety of disciplines eg Marketing, Commerical, Finance etc.

But it was so much fun at Christmas, we used to go back into store for a few days when we were at Head Office before Christmas to help out, used to love it and it felt so Christmas-y.

I was a Sainsbury's man. I did enjoy it to a certain extent. I liked the fact I was busy, and it was good banter, but given the choice Id take this anyday. Everyone is so much happier, I dont have to deal with idiots fighting over carrots and I can enjoy Christmas with my family. I can also get on the internet at breaktime to wish you all a Merry Christmas too!

I do feel sorry for people who work in retail cos a lot of them just get one day off now cos shops are back open now on Boxing Day, I mean can people really not cope without going to the supermarket for more than a day

im on 12hrs days this week.

busiest week of the year and all that.

looking foward to blowing out on friday (i am having xmas eve off this year, the first time in 6 yrs- don't tell the staff though, wanna keep them on their toes)

we are shut xmas day, boxing day and tuesday 27th this year - -yay

ive just packed in my retail job with Boots the Chemist so i can enjoy the run up to christmas and spend "quality time" with those close to me. Wanted time at home before i move to the big L in 2 weeks.

I dont know Babs, sometimes i feel im gettin into the mood for christmas when working in shops and other times i dont. u do tend to see the best and worst of people when working in shops at this time of year. Sometimes as well with all the selling going on and targets that have to be met it leaves me wondering how much Christmas is just a big commercial exercise now which can get a bit depressing.

I just liked running up and down the queues giving chocolates to people (ie fit boys  ) so they didn't moan about the 1 hour + queues

It is just complete madness tho, I refuse to set foot in shops in the couple of weeks before Christmas unless for absolute emergencies cos people just go mad 8O
