Anybody any good suggestions for destinations for a honeymoon. Hubby to be is very into boats and wants to go on a Carribean Cruise but im not so sure.

Anybody been on a cruise? or has any ideas?

Thanks:D

I envy people who ask about where to go on holidays /honeymoon, I find hard to choose a place for my hols of the too long list of places to visit before my 40's.

We are considering Japan, Australia or Argentina + Chile, but if P can't take 2 weeks off (he is free lancer) we may go Girona :?

Cruises are not my cup of tea, but if I ever go for it, it would be in norwgian fiords. Another good option are the greek islands, but once again, I don't feel very attracted by the caribean

(So, I'm not very usefull, sorry)

When we were looking for ideas we came up with:

Thailand - about 4 places (dubai, bankok, chang mai, koh samui)
America - about 4 places (ny, niagara falls, lv inc grand canyon, miami) Im hoping we do this one :D
South America - Brazil

My wife to be & I are going to thailand (4 nights bangkok, 7 nights koh samui) for our honeymoon in september. when you've worked out what yr doing try getting a quote from travelcounsellors.co.uk they gave us the best price, and we spent a LOT of time shopping around!

it's not a cruise, but this place in malaysia is fantastic: http://pangkorlautresort.com

when we stayed, there were loads of honey mooners and some formula1 drivers with their wifes  and, you can rent boats and go out on the sea for a day or a few if you like!

Do you want to go somewhere warm? i've heard good things about cruises up the West Coast of Canada from Vancouver up towards Alaska.

I could be totally wrong, but when i think Caribbean Cruise, i think tacky American resorty type places with all you can east steak!

Right now you couldn't pay me to goon a cruise... just not my type of holiday!!.. sorry I'm no help!

do you want ultra-luxury?

I went to Alaska last summer and visited a couple of the towns where these cruise ships stop. Absolutely beautiful places - quaint small towns, terrain ranging from northern rainforests to glaciers, you can see seals, otters and whales, some native American settlements, etc. It sounds odd but I actually think it'd be quite romantic.

I can highly recommend a restaurant called Ludwig's in the town of Sitka, Alaska. 8)

Some of these cruises also make a stop over in the coastal villages of Chukotka (Russia) which is a fascinating place as well.

I actually heard that there is an ecotourism style crusie that runs up the canadian west coast. Activities include caving, rock climbing, mountaineering, whale watching and other sorts of fun. This is only good for the summer though since the winters are freakin cold.

Funny topic since to me the most obvious place for a honeymoon, well for myself and my fiance, is . . . Ibiza 8)

New Zealand was also a place we were thinking.

This is good advice - Pankor Laut is renowned as one of the best honeymoon places in the world.

Sam and I however chose a place not so far away which is also in Malaysia....a little island called Langkawi - simply beautiful. Loads to do and whichever hotel you choose you can guarantee its 5/6 star and set in the middle of the jungle, awesome. The Datai is the best hotel on the island and competes with Pangkor Laut as the best resort in the world.

:) good luck

I love bollywood films, I'm trying to convince pep that we should dance Chunari-Chunari (monsoon wedding'son) as our wedding song

That would be really cool!

I'm invited to an Indian wedding this year, i've been to a few before and have got some bollywood moves up my sleeve

The only problem with that song is that's really long and a bit "too much" even for us.

At the moment im thinking the Maldives, one of those little water bungalows out on the sea, the ones with the little slides

So many nice places to choose from :?

Rent a villa with a pool here for two weeks, get a load of your mates to come over for 1 week, party for that week, plenty of all sorts of boats for hire/ trips to keep hubby happy, then spend the quiet week doing all those lovey dovey type thing`s that newlyweds do, plenty of time when you get old to sit on a Caribbean beach,
Have a good one
Tim
