saturday, 16th july - continued

After another huge meal at garbi, I needed some time off. Needed to be alone for a while. So, we arranged to meet up again on the beach the next day and I left for a walk, not on the beach as usual, but through PDB instead. Went getting some money from the cash machine (how is it called properly?), went looking at the new space terraza which was to open on the next day (there were still many people working at 11pm) and had some drinks at tantra. Then went back to the hotel and called it a day…

To sum up the formentera excursion: I really enjoyed having a day off and if you have more than a week on ibiza (or if it’s already your fifth time on ibiza and you already know each and every bit of the island), then go for it! The nature and also the silence on formentera are great – as well as the views from the two cap’s and the beaches.
If you’re a BIT sporty and you rent a bike, then the whole excursion will cost you about 50€ including some snacks. If you’re lazy, then hire a scooter (with this you could make both cap’s and the beaches in one day) and pay more (but then again, if you’re two or four people, then you can share one or two scooters which is a cool thing). Voilà!

THIRD WEEK – ANOTHER ROUND-UP OF THE FINEST STUFF IBIZA OFFERS

Sunday, 17th july – the arrival of christian, pdb/bora bora, benirras drummer session, pdb/bora bora

I got up at 9am, after a good night’s sleep and went having breakfast with the german girls. Then we went on the beach in front of garbi – again a sunny day (as usual)!
I stayed with them until two in the afternoon. then I drove to the airport…

Where I catched christian, a good friend of mine. For my last week he would be my partner in crime! He had never been to ibiza before, but he’s party-tested and proof! After a heartwarming hello, we drove back to PDB, where I showed him our room at the garbi. We had some (not just one) welcome-drinks on our balcony in the middle of the afternoon, then we went to the beach and finally also christian could have a swim in the sea and forget all the trouble he had had lately at home. he had finished his relationship with his girlfriend only 3 months ago and they were still living together (which is a hard thing imo). They both had a hard time because she really couldn’t let go. So for him (not for me) this ibiza-vacation was a bit like “ctrl-alt-del”.
After we had cooled our bodies down in the sea and he also had met mandy and larissa, he wanted to check out bora bora. The german girls couldn’t believe that by now I got so active and in a way restless, because during the week before I always was quite quiet when I was with them. But with having christian alongside, things change immediately. Its like riding a F16 jet – hold on, it’s gonna be fast!

He loved bora bora from the first moment, so we had areal good boogie…and more drinks! But soon we both got hungry and walked back to garbi. before dinner, we went to the supermercado to fill up our fridge with food and drinks. Then finally, the buffet was opened and the lions got their meat

After dinner, we had a drink (no, two – happy hour as always) at tantra. Christian had been to a huge music festival (with the prodigy and chemical brothers playing for example) AND to a marriage of a good friend of him, so he arrived on the island with a BIG lack of sleep. That’s why we decided to NOT going to space (I know, it was the re-opening of the terraza, but I knew I could check it out later) and do something else instead: we took our car and drove up north to cala benirras. You all might know about the drummer session that takes place every Sunday evening/night on that cala and I also had heard good things about it – and now we finally made it there!
When we arrived at cala benirras, there were many cars parked on the street and so we easily found out we weren’t the only ones with this glorious idea ;) but that wasn’t really a problem, we parked our car and walked towards the beach. There we passed all the drummers and the people who were either sitting on the beach, looking around an taking fotos or dancing away. We found some stairs and we walked up on the left hand side of the cala. On top of the stairs, we found a great place to sit. So we sat down, had a great view over the cala and the acoustic up there was awesome there, much better than down on the beach! It was also more comfy to be up there instead of being squeezed and kicked on the beach. Christian had bought some sangria, so we also had a drink up there while listening to the drummers (who really did a great job, I truly believe you can get in a state of trance during such a session). I also saw this rock out in the sea again…had seen it already last year and I swear, will jump off that rock one day!!!
So we really had a cosy evening – something different for once than the usual WLS-madness :D

When it was dark, we drove home do PDB (I guess the drummers kept on playing all night) and catched the last hour at bora bora (outside – I never had been inside!). after the last tune at bora bora, we walked up to space to see how things look from the outside, bought an ice-cream and then walked back to garbi. I thought we would go to bed, but suddenly, we found ourselves dancing inside GARBI DISCOTECA   how the hell did we get in there??? Well, we were the eldest people inside there (and we’re both only 25) and black music was played. Black music is ok for me – but not to dance to. So we had a few tequilas and a good laugh. At some point, I got tired and wanted to go to sleep, so I did, while christian still stayed for a while.

About an hour later, christian crawled into the room, grinning like mad. Well, he surely was A BIT drunk, as he had drunk quite a lot and he also had found some funny stuff for his nose (not for me, please), but still – these things couldn’t be the reason for SUCH a big smile! So he told me the story and afterwards I couldn’t stop laughing for a while, because he had already managed to “pull some (terribly young) bird” (wayne18uk-styleee) at garbi discoteca and to snog her (snog with her? Sp?) in the servicios…oh my god, this would be an interesting week!

Monday, 18th july – circoloco@dc10, bora bora, cocoon@amnesia

I woke up at 9am and felt really good and ready for all the things which would come during the next hours and days ;)
Christian, who still felt wrecked after the festival/marriage (and also garbi…), wanted to get some more sleep, so I let him in the room and went to the beach (after a small breakfast).
Today, after a week with hardly any clouds at all, the weather didn’t seem to be so good, it was quite cloudy, I decided to stay on the beach as it was still very hot. At noon time, it slightly began to rain (but only for about 10 mins), so I stopped my tanning session and went wakin up christian. And that was the point when the week really kicked off!

He felt hungry and wanted some unhealthy food, so we went to burger king for lunch. Afterwards he had an absolutely shitty conversation with his ex on the phone and he tried to clear up all the hassle. Their discussion was endless, so I went having a very good café solo at the restaurante just next to garbi (same side as garbi, direction figueretas). When they finally had stopped war, christian was quite upset and pissed and it took him some to relax again.

After this time-out, he finally was ready to rock. So, off to dc10! Arrived there quite early, it was only 3pm. Went inside (no q at that point) and directly onwards to the terrace. The vibe was already very good and the dancefloor was nicely filled, but there was still enough room to dance. We catched the second half of loco dice’s set, which we really liked. Christian immediately fell in love with dc10! Then, luciano & ricardo villalobos played a long (at least 3, I think it was 4 hours) back to back set, which was absolutely awesome! By 6pm, the terrace was packed and everybody had a GREAT time there! Dc10 to me is really sooo real ibiza-clubbing! We met various people (only girls this time ) & had lots of fun… ;)
At about 8pm, the feeling on the terrace got even more special when the sun was already on its descending way and shone through the gap between the walls and the roof! (sunny weather again from late afternoon on…)
Afterwards, tania vulcano was at the turntables. I had seen her playing on the old space terrace last september and didn’t like her set very much then. And also this time, the tunes she played, were too much electro and just a few BPM’s too slow for me – christian thought the same…so we left dc10 just before the sun disappeared behind the hills. Had a cool moment on the car parking with taking some pictures.

Then we realised we could get some (free) food at garbi, if we’d hurry up. so we drove back to PDB and directly went to the buffet. We didn’t eat a lot, but it was a good thing to have a snack.
After that, we took a shower and changed clothes. When christian was still up in our room, I met two new girls in the entrance hall of our hotel. Guess where they were from? Yes, of course the were from germany… again!!! But they were very nice and we had a short chat and a “see you tomorrow”

Then we walked to bora bora, where we stayed till the last tune was played. I think the new “insomnia”-remix is cool and it was a cracker because the dj (didn’t see if it was gee or someone else) played it as the last tune and bora bora was going off!
After that, we walked to tantra to grab our tickets for cocoon. Then back to garbi to catch our car. And that’s where we walked into the lately-met germans again. Their names were susanna and diana and they were on their way to privilege (manumission). I offered them to give them a lift and so we first drove them to privilege, before we got ourselves to amnesia.

Cocoon is a night definitely NOT TO MISS! dinky was warming it up nicely on the progressive and electro-funky way. Then the hacker played a live set, which I liked, but I thought it didn’t really fit amnesia main floor at 3am, it was a bit too relaxed, more made for chilling at home, but not made for cocoon in the middle of the night!
Then, finally miss kittin was on the mixer. WHAT A SET!!! pumpin’ techy and proggy tunes, also many tunes with either “normal” vocals on it (but not the cheesy ones) or with HER live singing! All this created a brillant and very spheric vibe. Also the crowd was great! Towards the end of her set, even some a bit trancier (again, no cheese) tunes appeared and when she played a version ot the very old “rock to the beat” (anyone knows this? I think it’s from the new-age decade, back in the 80ies), I almost exploded!!! I stayed in the main room all night and never stopped dancing (long live duracell bunny). Christian, who absolutely loved amnesia and cocoon, also hit the terrace to catch some of tobi neumann’s housier tunes. We both had an absolutely brillant night!

After the last tune had been played (around 7am, como siempre), we stood outside amnesia for maybe a quarter of an hour and watched a) all the freaky funny people and b) the sun rising over the whitewashed wall.
We weren’t in the mood to drive to the cocoon-afterparty (which apparently was held at xxxxxxxxxxxx), but still (for some strange reason ) we weren’t really tired. So, home to garbi. we spent some time on the balcony and saw the awakening of the day. Went having breakfast then and then back to the room…should we go to bed or what????

Tuesday, 19th july – manumission carry-on@space, beach pdb, carl cox opening party@space

no, we did not go to bed yet! Instead, after a shower and putting on fresh clothes, we walked up the beach in PDB, got tix for space at tantra and went to manumission carry-on at space. I had never been to manumission at privilege (I never really was tempted to go) and also it was the first manu carry-on I went to, so I didn’t really know what to expect, except the fact I knew it might be a bit crazy…

we got there before 10am, so the terrace wasn’t running yet. The discoteca was quite full and to my surprise, they were playing some progressive trance tunes 8) – I never would have expected to hear this music inside space, especially at an afterhour…but then again, it’s manu carry-on… ;)
then we went back to the terrace and had a cool boogie. But also here, sound was a bit special…many well-known tunes, often sampled house versions of famous old songs...err, not really the music we were looking for. But still, we enjoyed dancing in the sunshine…and of course, it was funny when they brought out all their accessoires…moustaches, freaky glasses, artificial hair and so on…but we were mainly there for the music. It was a good experience for me to see how manu carry-on works, but the next time I’d definitely search for cocoon-afterparty!

We left space at about 1pm and walked back to garbi. we spent all afternoon on the beach, lying in the sun, swimming in the sea and taking one or two little naps 8)

In the evening, we had dinner at garbi (at a certain point, the cooks got worried when they saw how much christian and me were eating ) and then, after a strong vodka in our room, we walked back towards space. Yes, we were quite tired (no wonder after such two days), but it was the day of the opening party of carl cox’ night at space and and we just couldn’t give it a miss! Plus, if you got in before 9pm, you got in for free…and that’s what we did. So, we found us again dancing on the terrace only about 8 hours after we had left it!!!

On the terrace, pako s. & fiore trhew a bombastic set! pure pumping progressive house music! Definitely one of the best sets I catched this summer!!! The terrace soon filled up and christian and I wondered, where we still had the energy to dance…we were dancing straight from 9pm till about 11pm. Then we needed a break and while having a drink, we met two girls (don’t even ask where they were from…) and had a nice, but “non-resulting” chat.

Then, a bit before midnight, the coxster suddenly popped up in the dj booth on the terrace (which was rammed now) and people were going mental! he threw a cool set and we couldn’t resist shaking our asses a bit more…(in fact, it was exactly the same thing on CC opening party last july!)
After midnight, when dj vibe had begun to play inside, christian went inside to enjoy him. All my power was gone (duracell bunny dies ) and I already had seen dj vibe last year. So, I kept on chatting to the girl…but tbh, the real reason why I didn’t go home yet was because I wanted to see the renewed terrace, which opened at 1am (with roni size playing).
Oh man, the new terrace looks really different! I mean, it’s still got the same size as the old one and when you stand there, you can easily imagine the old terrace, but the style (to me) is completely different! I do like it, but now – as it’s styled in a very cool way – it looks more like an “inside” place and not anymore like a terraza. But I don’t bother this – because space still has its sunset terraza which has the “real” terrace feeling! And I’m sure it’s a GREAT PLACE for parties such as WLS and VIVA.

After I had checked out the new terrace, I went inside to tell christian I wanted to go home, my feet began to hurt and I really felt wrecked now. Found him dancing (like he had slept for 12 hours the night before…but I knew where his power came from ) and obviously, he didn’t want to leave yet. No problem for us, he stayed and I left.
Walked through PDB, bought an ice-cream on the way to garbi (my preferred late night-snack) and went sleeping at about 3am. Christian, who had come back one or two hours later, had to change his opinion about space now: on Tuesday morning, when only inside and the sunset terrace were opened (and music was average), he was a bit disappointed of space. But now, after seeing space in full effects with also the new terrace, caja roja and premier étage opened, he LOVED space! 8)

Wednesday, 20th july – cala salada, cala codolar, sunset@my fave place, getting drunk in pdb

we got up at about 9am and I felt quite good. Christian felt okay as well and I decided it was time to show him more of this beautiful island! We went for breakfast and then almost the same thing happened as last week, when I was having breakfast alone: the two german girls who we had driven to privilege on Monday night were also having breakfast and went towards us…they friendly asked us what were our plans for today…and half an hour later we were on the road together! (by the way: they had been disappointed by manumission on Monday)

we drove to cala salada first. Susanna, diana and also christian loved this beach (I knew they would ;)) and we spent some hours there until we felt hungry.
Then we drove into san an, stopped by a supermarket and bought agua, pan, jamon, queso y tambien melocoton. we drove to cala codolar (very much in the south). I had never been to this beach before and I was tempted how it would be! It was a bit of a rallye to drive down there (I liked it ), and the beach is a quite small, but very nice sandy beach with a very intimate and familiar touch. Crystal clear water, some pebbles when entering the sea. We had picnic there and then we relaxed in the sun. I also took a walk (more a climb) up the cliffs on the right and the left side of the beach and I took many pictures of the place. There’s also kind of a secret and very tiny beach on the left side where you really have to climb down (or take a boat). When I was walking around there, I realised that my love for this island is still growing!

Later in the afternoon, we drove back to garbi. christian and me felt quite tired…after partying effects…but still, we went for a quick swim in front of garbi. then christian took a nap while I had dinner with the girls. After dinner, I went back to the room to wake up christian, because we had decided to go and watch the sunset. But at that point, his damn ex-girlfriend began to trouble him again and he had to call her…I first told him he should call her after we’d come back from sunset, but no chance. I was REALLY pissed, because I so wanted to show him cala y…!
Well…at the end, susanna, diana and I left christian and drove to the above mentionned place. The girls even brought a bottle of red wine (and glasses) and when we arrived there, the girls were absolutely fascinated by the location! They were like children in front of a christmas tree. After they had taken a close look around (any manymany pix), we sat down, opened our bottle of vino tinto and watched the sun diving into the sea – wow!
We had a great conversation there, probably the best and in a way “deepest” conversation I’ve had during these 3 weeks (apart of the superb night out with McR!).
Just before it was completely dark, we left and drove back to PDB, where we found christian at cocos bar. He had already had two strrrrong drinks (after “war on the phone” he really needed it) and so, we did the same and ordered drinks. Later, we walked to tantra and did the same there…we were all in a good mood and starting to get drunk, but no one cared about it. After a few drinks at tantra, we continued our tour to mariners (I’m not sure if it’s the correct name, it’s the bar in front of jet) for more cocktails. We also got a free litre of sangria with our cocktails and suddenly (really within seconds) I was absolutely drunk. Oh my god. You know, I really love drinking (especially wine) and I don’t get drunk that fast, but I really have no clue why I got that drunk in so little time that night! I guess it must have been the sun and the lack of sleep altogether with some really strong cocktails (those at mariners were bombs!). and tbh, I hate it when I’m completely drunk! Urgh! We walked back (me slalom-lined) to garbi. the only thing I wanted to do is going to bed while the rest of us still was in good mood. So goodbye for now, I went to bed and they went down to garbi discoteca (the next day they told me they had a good laugh down there and christian didn’t score again )…

Thursday, 21st july – hangover morning, cala d’en serra, sleeping instead of partying

when I first woke up at 9am, my head still felt like being in a washing machine (why did someone f**k my washing machine???) and I felt really sick. Hm, we had an appointment with the girls at 11am (to go and see more of ibiza), so there was still time for another nap. But when I got up at 10:55, I didn’t feel better yet…so I woke up christian and asked him to go down to postpone our departure. He did it and then he relaxed by the pool with the girls. Finally, at about 1pm, I felt back to normal (which is GOOD!) and went back to the pool. There I saw that also christian and the ladies weren’t in such a good shape. We laughed about it and decided we still wanted to see more of eivissa!

So, first I drove them all to salinas. Everybody talks about this beach (even if I think it’s nothing special with the exception of sa trinxa which really looks fab and relaxed) and so they wanted to see it. As I had supposed, the platja was quite crowded, so (after seeing cala salada and cala codolar yesterday), they asked me if I knew something more quiet. Aye aye sire, let’s drive north!
I drove them to my favourite northern beach of ibiza – cala d’en serra. On the way to this beach, we stopped by at cala xarraca and cala xuclar (rallye again! :D) for pictures and in portinatx for getting our daily racion de jamon y melocoton.. and when we finally arrived at cala d’en serra at about 3pm and had walked down to the beach, they all immediately understood why I just LOVE this cala!
We spent all the afternoon there. Swimming, relaxing, eating and drinking (no alcohol please! We all couldn’t even think about this word then!). We all also fell asleep and time passed by quickly…

When we drove back southbound in the evening, we all vere tired and very happy at the same time. It’s so good to find a quiet place after partying hard!
We had dinner at garbi together and after dinner, we went back to our rooms for some sleep before going out. The girls had bought tickets for cream. I had been to cream both two thursdays before and thought trying something new would be cool. Plus, christian doesn’t really like trance.

So our plans weren’t defined yet – but there were many opportunities: viva/fundacion opening at space…but we decided to give this a sure miss because we wanted to see something else than space that night. then there was yoshitoshi at pacha with behrouz and deep dish. This was my first choice and I guess we would have gone there unless…wait, read more: as it was the fullmoon-night, we’ve also had heard many rumours about fullmoon-parties going on at various places and we also were tempted to check out one of this places! So, we decided to take a nap and to make the final decision later.

But – damn sh*t – the worst thing that can happen happened to us: we missed it ALL because we just slept all night! I am sure I had heard the alarm clock at a certain point but I must have stopped it, just turned my head around in my bed and falling asleep again immediately!!!! so, instead of going to pacha (or a beachparty as a warm-up), we had a really long and deep good night sleep…pfft!!!!

Friday, 22nd july – cala salada (again), bora bora, ibiza town, pure pacha

after having missed a whole night out, we (at least) got up quite early and felt very fresh, especially after a huge breakfast. First we were still a bit pissed having missed deep dish, but afterward we just forgot about it and looked forward to our last two days!

In the morning hours, we spent some time by the pool at garbi. susanna and diana had gone on a catamaran-trip today and in the evening they told us they had had one of their best nights out ever at cream the night before. So we looked around who’s lingering by the pool and soon we met two girls (yup, from germany….i really couldn’t believe we always met german people). We asked them if the want to join us and then we drove to cala salada. Again, it was very nice, but today two things were a bit bad: first, the beach was too full today! Second: the girls were SO boring!!!! I don’t even remember their names anymore…

So when we drove back to PDB in the evening, we were lucky to drop them off. Then went to have dinner at garbi. I really would have loved to go out for dinner for a last one (as I often did with natascha during the first week), but christian didn’t want to spend more money on food than necessary, especially because halfboard was included in our roomrates and the food quality at garbi was really ok. So, no dinner out then

After dinner, we walked to bora bora. We hadn’t been there for some days, so it was good to be back. Had some drinks and warmed up for the night, dancing under the stars…
After a bit, we went to tantra. There we were negociating about either going to amnesia (made in italy) or to pacha (pure pacha). I let the decision to christian and he had never been to pacha before, he decided to check out tongy’s night, so we bought tix for pacha.

Then we took our car (which was so dirty you could hardly see the original colour anymore) and drove into town. As it was christian’s first night in ciutat eivissa, I guided him through dalt villa and sa penya. It was funny for us (two boys) to walk through calle de la virgen  and we got out again, untouched and not worried ;)

After a late night-bocadillo, it was time to head for pacha. as you all know, things at pacha mostly don’t get going before 3am, but we were already dancing at 1am and welcomed all other people on the dancefloor  yousef played a nice progressive set, relaxed in a way and still pumping. Afterwards, when pacha was filling up, jo mills played, but I didn’t really like her set that much. It was also quite proggy, but in a way boring – not as cool as yousef did before! But at least, “the swing was growing” and christian met a girl. Finally not a german one – she was australian and was living & working in london, claire was her name. he spent all night with her and I think they really had a good time. I also was having a good time at the main room, especially when pete tong arrived. Well, it wasn’t the best house set I ever catched, but it was better than jo mills had been before. Pacha now was rammed and I also met some random people (a crazy dutch lady and a hot spanish chica) – it was a funny night out! I danced nonstop till 6am. Then I went up to the roof terrace and that’s were I found chris & claire. We decided to go back to the hotel, so off to garbi.
There we saw a perfect sunrise from our balcony and chilled for a while. Luckily it suddenly was already 8am, so we could go and have a power-breakfast in the hotel!

Saturday, 23rd july – matinée@space, pdb, last sunset@...., lingering around in san an

after breakfast (and a shower, of course), we put on our dancing shoes again (flipflops for afterhours!) and walked on the beach towards space. We arrived there at about 9am and went inside the discoteca. WOW! Now that’s what I call an afterhour party!!! The music inside was absolutely brillant, the best deep house stuff I’ve ever heard and they were so many people at the discoteca!!! I had told you before that I don’t really like space inside that much (mainly because it’s so dark and imo without much ambiente), but with the music the people behind matinée group delivered, it was alright!!! Unfortunately, the music on the terrace was (when it opened at 10am) only average. Less pumpin, less magic, less vibe and also less people on the terrace. We all had a good time inside. Especially christian and claire enjoyed their time together while I was going out to the terrace, came back inside, went back out and came inside again…bit of a dilemma, this time the music inside was much better than on the terrace, but I can’t stand being inside space for long time!

So, at about 1pm I got tired and decided to leave. c & c also left soon after me. i bought some food at the supermercado, got my swimming stuff in our room and went to the beach. Left the room to chris and claire ;) after an hour or so, chris joined me at the beach – claire was sleeping in our room. We realised we had only 24 hours left on the island, so we soaked up a lot of sun as well as the salty air…

In the evening, we first had garbi and then I drove them (yes, claire was still here) to cala yogi. Finally I could show christian why I had gotten so pissed a few days ago…and he understood…
We arrived there quite early (sun was still up quite high) and we all enjoyed being there…although, the sunset wasn’t perfect, it was still a very special moment for me. now I already was in ibiza for almost 3 weeks and had soo much memories…all the crazy nights, all the beautiful hours by one of those calas, all the so tasty lunches and dinners, all the people I met…I became really melancholic at that point because I knew I’d be gone within less than one day…
So I enjoyed this sunset for myself – chris and claire even became a bit worried because I got that quiet for nearly an hour or so (chris definitely doesn’t know me like that), but I was alright. Just very thoughtful.

After the sunset we drove into san an. First time for christian to be in san an – so we had the obligatory walk on the sunset strip, first passed by kanya and coastline and then walked to the famous café del mar. claire had been there almost daily during the past week, I never had been there during the whole 3 weeks (had been there once last year though ;)). We went inside café del mar and had a copa de vino tinto. Well, inside it’s really pretty – but outside it’s just to busy for my liking. Then, we stopped at mambos and saw a cool fire-whirler-show for defmix. We drove further into san an after that and we got hungry again. Christian decided we should eat some cheap chinese food and so we did (somewhere in the southernmost street of the west-end, don’t remember the name of the restaurant). The food indeed was cheap – and good at the same time! So, after our second dinner that night, we walked to the hotel where claire stayed (I think the name was hostal florida – just opposite the wips supermarket) and dropped her off. She had stayed with us (errr, with christian) for almost 24hrs and we had a great time. But now, we all were tired (no wonder…) and she needed some sleep. Again, I had an invitation for 2 people for ibiza@amnesia and chris and I thought about going for only ten seconds, then we decided we should drive back home and finally also get some sleep…

Sunday, 24th july – what a sad day…

I woke up at about 8am and after having breakfast, I woke up christian. Sad job to wake someone up and tell him “hey, it’s time to pack our bags – we’re leaving paradise today”. But first, we went to the beach in front of garbi and spent the whole morning there catching some sun and soaking up as much as we could! We had an excellent conversation; talking about the past week(s) and “swimming” in our memories ;)

Short before noon time, we got back to our rooms, took a shower and packed our bags. We checked out our room exactly at 12pm and then put our bags in the car. We felt hungry and still had enough time, so we went to the restaurant just next to bar cocos in PDB. There we had a tasty and cheap lunch (accompanied by some drinks) and soon it was 2pm – time for us to drive to the airport…

When we passed by space, we drove very slowly and opened our windows…pump up the jam was played (what a surprise )) and we both wished we could be in there right now…but we were good boys and drove to the airport instead.

After dropping off our car and checking in, we did some shopping at the dutyfree and then it was only one last view over ses salines, before we boarded our plane which took us back to switzerland…the flight was perfect: we took off in south-eastern direction, overflew formentera and then northbound to switzerland…it was a very quiet flight…christian and I both had two seats for each one (me left of the aisle, him right) and we didn’t talk much during the flight…we only looked at each other from time to time – sometimes with tears in our eyes and a few moments later grinning like mad…

We arrived in berne on time and suiza welcomed us with cloudy and cool weather :x
But there was a nice surprise waiting for me: natascha picked me up at the airport! That was something I really didn’t expect as she’s not living nearby!!! So, coming home for me wasn’t such a bad thing (well it was, but I got comfort!), while christian really didn’t want to go home, because hell (in form of his ex-gf) was waiting for him
Anyway, we had to say goodbye at that point and natascha drove us to my place. There I cooked some good pasta and we opened an even better bottle of red wine…I was absolutely sad and in a way happy at the same time…what a strange feeling!

Monday, 25th july – ibiza blues

natascha had to leave due to work
I was still off work that day
I was totally wrecked
I had never been that sad before
It was raining outside
Where’s the sun? where’s the sea? Where’s the sand and where’s the smell of the pine-trees?

ibiza, my beloved – I will be back…I had the time of my life during the past 3 weeks. With the chosen title of the review HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, I really think you can call “home” more than just one place: of course, suiza is my home country. I love this country, I love the people, the mountains, the chocolate and the cheese and our best bread in the world.
BUT, I really feel like home, whenever I’m in ibiza. I never feel like a stranger there! I’ve only spent 5 weeks of my life on that island (in total), but it totally feels familiar to me and I miss it when I’m not there. I could say I’ve “lost” a part of my heart there and that’s why I chose this (maybe cheesy, but to me honest) title.

Well, I could continue for hours telling you more about my feelings and my experiences I had, but I’m only making a sum-up with some highlights and some funny figures now...

favourite places

beaches : cala d’en serra, cala salada, cala codolar and cala bassa (if not too crowded)
sunset places : with music – kumharas. Quiet – cala yogi.
Eating : cheap – buy fresh stuff at the market. Expensive one’s: cap d’es falcó, la brasa. Also to mention es boldado and sa caleta as beach-restaurants (both deliver a fab paella). And: la ventana and el corsario for a nice, romantic (and pricey) dinner up In dalt villa
Bars: not such a bar-addict. But (as hundreds of me have mentionned before) tantra in PDB for tickets and bora bora for an “early shaking session”.

favourite parties/nights/dj-sets/tunes

daytime parties: circoloco@dc10, matinée and in bed with@space

nighttime parties: cocoon, hands down!

Dj-sets: house: every set I catched by jon ulysses, then pako s. & fiore’s set@cox’ night, darren emerson@subliminal. For the darker and also more electro-stuff: clive henry, loco dice, luciano and ricardo villalobos – all @dc10! Techno: definitely sven väth and miss kittin (the perfect night would have been to have them together playing during one night). trance: I didn’t expect to say this, but this year tiësto was better than pvd. Don’t forget about armin, who wasn’t bad as well. But in general (as you all might notice), trance lately is a bit on the way down. I still love it, but i think nowadays it’s really hard to find good trance productions!

Tunes: sun rising up (by deux) was played everywhere, already begin to feel bored when listening to it but on the other hands, it brings back the memories. Say hello (by deep dish) wasn’t played that much when I was there, but It definitely was my favourite tune to listen to while driving around on the island. And to me, this is MY ibiza-tune 2005. pump up the jam (by dons feat technotronic)…well…it rocks a party…but that’s just it! My washing machine (by SIKK) – this is sick! And was definitely one of the songs for a cool party at space! Feel the vibe (by axwell) – class A tune! And two more tunes, “der mückenschwarm” and “gasthaus zum satten bass”, both played (but not produced) by sven väth.

best moments

sunsets@cala yogi
pure madness@dc10
sunrises on our balcony
miss kittin playing “rock to the beat”@cocoon
tijs verwest playing “southern sun”@cream
feeling “real, alive and new born” when climbing around playa codolar (and doing the same at cala d’en serra)
one of the german girls saying to me “you must be a high-performance athlete”:lol::lol:

bad moments(luckily there were only few, but I thought I still could share them with you)

natascha leaving afer only one week
seeing christian suffering because of the trouble with his ex
getting pissed at cream on 14th july
and of course, leaving ibiza

some figures

driven kilometers on the island: about 1’100kms
hours dancing: around 80hrs!!! 8)
them funny small bombones: none of your business, but I’m detoxing for a while now…
money spent: roughly 3000€

epilogue
today, it’s already the 4th of august (excuse me, actually the 5th…) and I’m back for almost two weeks now. Am working again and life’s back to normal. First I really thought “ok, 3 weeks in a row are enough for this year”, but now I’m really thinking about going back for a week in mid-september…don’t know yet, but will sort it out soon. Sorry my review comes a bit late, but it took me a while to write it ;)

Again, I did ibiza “my way”. I can only recommend everybody doing the same – doing it their own way. If you’re only up for partying, then go for it! If you want to see more of the island, then rent a car, drive around the island and explore the real beauty of ibiza.

I just got back to my computer now. I had printed out the whole review (wow, it really got long) and re-read it while lying on my sofa and sipping a copa de hierbas con hielo which I had bought just before leaving…i wonder if anybody really will read this all

Anyway, thanks for reading – I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it.

Salud – y força al canut!

enjoy! 8)

very good review 8) , show this to all of those people who think Ibiza is just like the stereotype of what club 18-30 shows it to be. Just 11 days of long boring days in England until I'm flying out there can't wait :D

Really enjoyed reading this.

Going through the darkest period in my life at the mo. but this has put a smile on my face.

makes me want it to be September even more :D

What week in September was you thinking of going? will you be staying @ Garbi again? we were thinking of staying there but we booked up at Cafe Del Mar Apartments instead for the 9th - 19th sept.

I printed it off last week, all 60 pages of it (or whatever it was) and I've still not had the time to read it, as soon as I've finished my book I shall get to reading this 8)
