Hierbas - love it or hate it?

DEFINATELY not a session drink, but it's fantastic as an after dinner liquor. Over ice is the way to whilst chilling and chatting with friends at the table.

love it!! :p

where's Ferd when you need him eh

btw, i love it after a meal but those huge measures over ice just break my soul.....

just come back from a short trip on the isle and was talking to a local who ran a bar who made his own. He said that it needs 1 part cheap gin to 2 parts aniseed in a large glass container. chuck in a bucket full of herbs and wait for 3-4 months and bobs your uncle. Now, i could have missed something as i was, err, (slightly) pissed but that was the jist of it. I tried some, of course, very good, even though it was poured out of something that resembled a fish tank.

but how do you pronounce it? :)

Its Pronounced...........YEA--BASS. A previous post mentioned that it was never heard of in some bars in San An, highly unlikely. More likely was when ordered it wasnt pronounced correctly and the barman didnt understand.

I love the liquor as a digestif, which I think its meant to be. Best Ive ever tasted was Sa Capella and Bar Anita in San Carlos. It has to be served with Ice "con heilo" if its coming off the shelf. The better bars will have it already chilled, and there is no need for ice.

Is it true that Bar Anita is the only bar in Ibiza allowed to officially sell its own "homemade" Heirbas??? or is it just a urban myth?

more like ee-air-bass.....

never without a bottle in the fridge.

went on a torrada (BBQ) in spring with some of the other parents from the school, 5 bottles of homemade came out at the end of all the food, some had been distilling for a few years. sweet.:D

Ok thanks! It will prevent me looking a d*** You see I had some Spanish girls staying next door to me in the Jet apartments before they could speak a little English but not the days, and I was trying to ask them if they were going to Privilege on Wednesday.. I knew how to ask them the day in Spanish but because of my accent they couldnt understand! I managed to find a flyer with the days written on in the end lol
