The local aperitif, and I must say it spoilt a good meal!Nothing subtle about that drink, but It`s definately got to be an aquired taste! What do you think?

I always have it AFTER a meal, never before or during ;)

best hierbars at the small restaurant in St. Agnes/St. Ignes

served on ice, of course
it feels like it is heavier than oil, you can swirl it around the glass
absolutely wonderful

3 more months...

So a pint or two of this isn`t recommended straight off the beach at 1 o`clock then Silvia?

Well, I don't know, before lunch I never feel like having alcohol but defintly for me is more a digestive than an aperitiv ;)

Absolutely love it - tried it for the first time last year and ended up taking a bottle home

not quite the same atmos with it tho

I had never had Hierbas as a apetizer I allways have them after lunch with the cofee, In Mallorca we also have Hierbas ( their a not the same, the hierbas from Ibiza are stronger) and is typicall to have them with the coffee not before lunch.
What their drink before lunch is a drink called palo .

I discovered it a couple of years ago in Ibiza and its turned into one of my all time favourite drinks.

At home I have it poured over loads of ice but in Ibiza I drink it neat as a pre going out chaser with cold beer. Works a treat.

I've got 3 big bottles of it on my shelf at home now but in the winter I'm always scared to drink it in case I run out ! . . . I'm ok to get stuck into it at this time of year as I know I can buy more soon.

Also halfway down an Absinthe bottle at the moment.

Now thats a DRINK in capital letters.

Makes your whole body fly then proceeds to smash you over the head with a baseball bat ! - Have just graduated to drinking it neat but its fun to mix it with water and watch the green turn milky or put burning sugar in it to sweeten it up.

I have tried Frigola once but can't recall if I liked that ! - its from the same 'stable' as Hierbas.

Am I right in thinking I`ve seen the Hierbas wholesalers/dealers across the road from the port cafe in Ibiza town?If so I wonder do they sell it any cheaper there?Cheers all, happy sipping! :D

Herbias is my favourite drink in ibiza !! Yuo will be suprised thou how many bars in san an dont stock it and have never heard of it !!!

funky flares ells it thou !!!

Love it. 1 shot or 2 after a meal is ideal.

Brought 2 bottles home at the weekend. Airport shop are selling 1 litre bottles for €9

Once upon a time, a few years ago, I had a few beers and a couple of bottles of wine during the day and then unfortunately was invited to a "leaving do". This involved copious amounts of wine, many G&T's, champagne, several schnapps and an hierbas - it was definitely the hierbas that did it so I no longer touch the stuff :P

Do all of them taste the same, or are they made by different companies? If so, and I want to bring a bottle back to the United States with me, which brand should I look for? What about the best place to drink it while we're over in Ibiza?

best one is the home made from Can Cosmi in St. Agnes

but as far as i know you can´t buy a whole bottle, only glasses.

we´ll see, maybe i can convince them this year :)

i used to enjoy hierbas as a post-dinner drink until one evening I ordered it in the bar of 'El Hotel' at the end of a night of heavy drinking. It was served over ice in a rather large quantity and I can safely say that it tipped me right over the edge.

A couple of days later when the hangover wore off I resolved to never drink it again. Since then I've had it once as a post-dinner drink but the taste took me right back to that drunken episode, so I think I might have ruined my enjoyment forever.

ah well never mind....
