I am a station manager for an internet radio station and am running round a few ideas in my head about various things, but wanted to chat to the people that would actually be listening!

we have loads of things in the pipeline but i was just wondering if you could answer a few questions for me if you dont mind

if you listen to internet radio stations

do you listen to net radio often?

if so what made you tune in?

what would you like from a station that you currently dont get?

if you dont listen to net radio, why?



just some basic questions but would be good to hear back from what you guys think.

do you listen to net radio often?

No. I find it a bit inconvenient to have to tune in at certain times for certain shows these days, considering I can download mixes as and when I want, stick them in my mobile phone, and listen to them when I want. But I do sometimes.

if so what made you tune in?

Usually knowing the person doing the broadcast. Or by randomly finding the station. Or by going out specifically with the intention of finding new music.

what would you like from a station that you currently dont get?

I think more radio stations should adopt the format of beatsinspace which archives the shows on its site. Obviously this may pose problems for licensing etc. you'd be more qualified to answer than me no doubt.

time constraints and the throwaway nature of music these days.

Yes, when my own music isn't available i. e. uni library etc. i listen to it, so yes very often.

if so what made you tune in?

Specific programmes, dj's, music etc.

what would you like from a station that you currently dont get?

like phil said, archived programmes, more interaction, better music

if you dont listen to net radio, why?

other music available on my comp which i prefer but no radio station will ever play do that for everyone so its impossible.

1. Yes all day at work

if so what made you tune in?
2. I loathe commercial radio playing the same music all day long and listening to annoying presenters. I hate anything mainstream and I find some internet radio stations to be more diverse.

i have listened and nosed around, they have a slightly different format and focus than our station, however our station (upon launch of new site) is incorperating a lot of the good areas of that site and things new to net radio
