Here's an idea... Spotlight Radio

I'm sitting at home now with my broadband connected laptop plugged into my amplifier and boogying away to the sounds of Richerd M @ So...

So... with smarties like dam0 on here, and some damn fine DJs, who not Spotlight Radio? A live mix every week or fortnight by a dj on here, and everyone can tune in and comment on the tunes in real time..

Thoughts??

Well its not exactly an original idea - the lads at djsource.co.uk already have theirs up and running.. but hey, i reckon it would be ace to have our own Spotlight Station on the interweb...

dam0, can ya fix it for us ;) :D

Oooh how much fun would that be, all my fave Spotlight DJs in my own room  ;)

There used to be live mixes from members of the judge jules message board every night, they dont do it anymore though, some quality sets were played

its easily done, but to be able to support a decent amount of listeners then we will need a decent server. I seem to remember gecko was trying to sort out a radio station a while back, maybe he could help us with the server side of things?

If we could sort that out then all the dj's need are a compy, winamp (+ a free plugin) and a net connection. If dj's wanna play who havent got a good connection (u need more than 56k really) then they can just send one of us a cd and we can just play that instead.

It would be great to get this goin but would only really work if we can find a server to host us. One possibility would be to approach an existing net radio station and see if they would be interested in our 'service'.

Do you know the name of the last tuneage spun at end of SO! @ Rhythm Factory, back in January :?: Its still stuck in my mind-love it :)

all you need to stream a set is a comp and some decks and winamp. Go to www.shoutcast.com they will host your stream for free. its very easily done.

id do it myself but i dont have decks and i cant dj :?

I'm on the case at the minute, I'm still talking to a few companys about good deals for a mix sessions streaming service for dj-mag.com and I'm looking at June time at the earliest. It's not the easiest thing to set up really, but it's a good idea and I've had some cracking mixs sent in.
