No not the event being sold out... but the organisers... this year i went to the opener and i have to say considering last years rave reviews i was utterly dissappointed.

The DJ's that they got in did not appear to be anyway near the caliber nor quality that they had last year, the music they played did not appear to me to be the music renowned to be the funk that 'Hed Kandi' is and as for the people... well the most pretentious, arrogant and well i don't want to dimminsh myself by saying it... but tw@ts

okay rant over. i didn't leave that early but by 4-5 is i was getting seriously upset with one of what i had planned to be, my best nights.

everyone there was only interested in the money that was floating around the place, it was all about who could show off the most. this is not a rant because i'm not as affluant, nor my wallet as well endowed as others... but because i was there for the music, the spectacle, the wagging my ass around and staring at gorgeous girls.

instead i faced 75 year old men plucking the 16 year old girls that i wouldn't touch on a bad day in barstaple. flashing there cash around like no tommorrow and so when i tried to even look at the distinctly average crowed i was faced with looks of arrogant disgust.

a crowd that seemed to only know how to side step around a hand bag to what was even more distinctly average music.

biggest let down of the holliday... jesus.. the 'funky room' in eden on Judgement Sunday played more funky stuff than el davino did here..

one very annoyed

The Kandi crowd (IMO) now is mainly VERY good looking people, good vibes? Not really a serious house thing.

NOW THAT!! is taking it to the extreme!? Sure it couldnt have been that bad? Worse than Eden?! thats pushing boundaries there my son.

Noow for my points;
ill probably get twwaaattted for this but..

That did happen (note the no response as well).
Another event happened in a bar in town (liverpool). Both of which are proper chav bars. I think it was part of a tour. None of the good kandi dj's where there (I think). It was all about using the name.

It is a business fair dos.

The one thing that really made me think is the Hed Kandi "vip" area at Global Gathering. £75. If anyone from Kandi is reading this could you please tell me what you get for that?

I can see this thread getting battered...

oh i expect to get twatted for this too.. maybe i just didn't see the good looking people... because the majority had there heads plowed too far up there....

well yes it is a brand and it is there to make money.. but IMO it was no where near as good as last year.

I drink little but do drink and i don't touch drugs.. so all i have is the company and the music.. and this year neither were perticularly good.

im with you there. Are we alone?

Still love Stonebridge's "Put em high" though -GREAT TRACK!! Listening to it on the bus the other day (Jam Man's cd :P ;) ) and it still makes me smile. :)

im not sure.. i spoke to quite random people over the last ten day's and it was a varied response i got then.. but so far most have said it's not a patch on last year.

infact it was a pr guy outside Bar M that started off a massive arguement about it the other day..

with us it was like marmite... one way or the other.. you either loved it or hated it..

well hate is a strong word.. but you get the gist.. it was just 'alright'

and sad as it may seem the funky room in eden actually suprised me.. it played really funky house along with some old school choons like 'la la land and i got the pills, the new order remix they played at manumission and sandy b - you make the world go round' and i was quite impressed with it... all things considered

could have been worse.. i could have gone to es paradis for the helter skelter night.. which coincidently when i walked past was playing 'Badass' of all choons :?

Last year started badly if I remember, they got a real slagging for the amount of San An beer boys that were getting bussed over.

They sorted that out.

Don't understand about the music, I thought it was all last years dj's again?

I havent been the Kandi Ibiza this year so can't comment on that side of things. I wont make it this year either as I simply can't afford it.

I think it will create a split/ love/hate thing on here as well...

RE: the pay for vip thing at global - GK keep changing what you get and taking things away, i think on the day you'll find you get very little.

Reply bashing Number 1!! :?

Sorry to hear you had a bad time.

I must admit that i didnt enjoy myself at Hed Kandi last year because it was TOO full!!.

One of the reasons the club was so full last year and maybe seemed a bit more friendy was because Club 18-30 had organised one of their nights at Hed Kandi as part of their offers they try and sell and was apparently a good little deal. Picked up and transfered over to El Divino etc.

This year they are not doing it and i know for certain that club 18-30 calibre of people are not going to travel over to Ibiza Town if its not a really good offer.

To say that ppl were side stepping around their handbags  well this is not a night at Lashed me dear, what do you want?? ppl hanging from the rafters gurning or sumat??

They were the same DJ's that played last year too and Hed Kandi DJ's are good at playing to the crowd so im not sure what happened there.

Nish : Speak to Joey about Global Gathering Hed Kandi VIP tent - he's going with Stonebridge so he'll be able to tell you what you get ;)

mmmm...

my ten pence worth...

went to HK in El Divino for closing closing party... enjoyed it (AIR-CON - TURN IT ON!)... but can see what u mean about the majority of the crowd tho. unfortunately, you will get twats attending the more popular nites, esp when word gets around that its a great nite, and that theres "totty".

The Djs Ive seen t various HK nites in Brighton, ibiza birmingham & Romford! have always been on top form (Jonesy, Matt, paul, andy norman, mark doyle, hatty).

Went to one in Brum last week, and crowd there (apart from peeps i was with) did seem a bit up their own arse, but what can u do but sod them and have a good time with peeps yr with. maybe these peeps aint fully embraced the love that house nites give off...

Hmmm can we not mention that swear word please Chewsive :?

As i keep telling you also . . . the crowd at the previous Hed Kandi's ive been too over the last 9 months in B'ham have always been excellent. I think the main reason for last week was Galaxy being there and the 69 Magazine re-launch. Unfortunately the door policy has also got very strict too so some ppl would have bene turned away - i.e maybe regulas.

:D :D

I will stick up for Hed Kandi until im Blue in the face!!

you have to take head kandi for what it is, a commercial brand.

I went last year and it was more for dressed up people rather than people going out to stomp to some house beats.

No No.. you get me all wrong.. i know what hed kandi is... and have been a regular to the birmingham one too.. i am not a hard house kid by a long way.. i just expected a little more funkyness to set the trend that i saw last year.. and believe me when i went there were no 18-30's...

i hate beer boys more than i hated the arrogance i saw there...

Hed Kandi has been my fave night for a long long time.. both Uk and Ibiza...

and this year (maybe it was just the night i went!?) i was seriously dissappointed.. and gutted.

i dont expect fireworks and flame throwers but i do expect the good music that you could compare to last year and it wasn't there... nor was the sense of fun loving people...

i felt like i was at a school disco at the part where the girls separate from the boys and stand around... it was more like a social evening on the lash.. with extorionate prices.. than a night for having a laugh and a boogie...

which every other hed kandi has been like
