Has the internet been a + or a - for Ibiza?

I was thinking about this one the other day. Has Ibiza lost a bit of it's magic because we can read so much about it before we go and see countless videos on youtube?

Or are we better prepared for our holidays because we have an idea of what to expect?

Online communities like spotlight are great but does it take away some of the magic/mystery of Ibiza?

Discuss.

interesting question !
i was thinking the same recently/yesterday when surfing
through a million ibiza (mostly) crap videos at youtube.

it certainly takes away a lot of the mistery of f.e. a club if everybody
can see every edge of it in brightest flashlight - so i can understand clubs
which impose a strict ban of taking fotos/videos.
if you look at the zillions of partypictures you must admit if you have
seen a few of them you have (almost) seen them all .

but i don´t want to miss f.e. my fotos/videos from last years dc10-afterparty
or manumissions-closingparty10oclockinthemorning@cocolocoroom :-)

certainly pictures + online communities are very good and useful
especially for newbees to get an overall picture and to make a plan ahead
to avoid wasting time when there,
but thank god the real magic you can´t experience
on pictures or in online-communities.
that´s why this forum says in the subtitle "the most fun you can have
without actually being there" ...
... you have to go (to ibiza) to see it live !

internet

photographs and reviews are great to check out before a visit any where..BUT they do not capture the fantastic atmosphere and vibes.. you have to be there to experiance it

if you consider that most people in the UK (who hadnt been to Ibiza) perceptions of the island are based on Ibiza Uncovered, I'd say the internet has been an absolute god-send to the island

I think the internet has helped Ibiza and all the tourist. If you you just look at this site it cuts out the leg work for me.

of course too much information on something takes away the mystery.
I believe you have to find out things for yourself to make things seem special.

this is true, but i think the way info is presented about ibiza via spotlight is done in a subtle way, ie. mcrackin's quizes

gives you a wee taste of something other than going out and getting out of your face and gives you reason to get up and go exploring in the morning - i reckon a lot of people get inspiration to try things other than clubbing from the many threads on here
