The author is .. Mitch Albom

"All endings are also beginnings. We just dont know it at the time ... "

On his 83rd birthday, Eddie, a lonely war veteran, dies im a tragic accident trying to save a little girl from a falling cart. With his final breath, he feels two small hands in his - and then nothing. He awakens in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a lush Garden Of Eden but a place where your earthly life is explained to you by 5 people who were in it. These people may have been loved ones or distant strangers. Yet each of them changed your path forever.

Beautifully written and just makes your heart overflow ... tis lovely.

I love it. Why don't we form our own Spotlight book club?
We could read a book each week and meet to discuss it in the snug of the Rovers with Norris and Rita and all the other old codgers.
Fantastic post. Keep it up Saffy.

Not read it Saffy but sounds like a nice book, i'm just reading The Promise of Happiness by Justin Cartwright which is really good.

Ahh Karlos ... it had me in tears this morning ... it's a lovely book .. and one I know I'll read again. Am now rooting through Hollie's room for something to read ... I really love her "teen" books !!

And .. just for you Biffybobs, I've altered my settings and you can now check when I'm online ... ;)

I've just finished reading "Sickened" by Julie Gregory, which Babs lent me. It's about Muchasen by Proxy syndrome (where a mother deliberately wants her child to be ill, taking the child to hospital for tests/operations etc). It's quite disturbing, what parent gets excited at the thought of their child being operated on, and given medication? 8O

It's a good read though, very thought provoking.

That is very disturbing, on a tangent did anyone watch Dispatches on Channel 4 last night? It was focusing on Nurses in NHS hospitals, two of the worst hospitals in the country were Ealing and Bath.

Shit Beckiboo .. I dont think I could read that .. honestly.

Karlos ... saw a tiddy bit of the programme .. Do you think people are becoming more selfish and that is why the care isnt as it used to be ?

I just dont think that they care at all about the patients that go there, some of the things were really awful. A women had been left in a pool of urine for hours and the way they treatr MRSA is terrible
