Harrow Road - what's going on???

Just heard on the news - police snipers are there, people are being told to stay inside and suspect packages have been found.

Armed police told residents around Harrow Road in west London to stay off the streets on Friday and one witness told the BBC he saw remote controlled trucks that he thought were used by bomb disposal units.

"There's what looks like a bomb disposal-type vehicle, armoured, and there's several armed officers around it," Houst Monfaradi told BBC television, adding there was a huge police presence in the area.

"About half hour an ago, police ran up my road telling everyone to get inside their houses. Anyone who even pops their head out, they scream at them: 'get inside your house'."

He said he also saw a small remote-controlled tracked vehicle, followed by a couple of armed officers with shields.

London police had been due to hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. (1230 GMT) on the day's events but it was delayed by more than an hour. Sky Television, citing police sources, said the delay was for operational reasons.

BBC website reporting that it is at an internet cafe on Portnal Road off Harrow Road.

Wouldn't panic too much yet- my sister has just been evacuated from her building for an hour whilst they conducted a controlled explosion on a package outside the Tower, which thankfully turned out to be nothing, plus the bomb scare at the mosque this morning was a false alert.

Fingers crossed this one is too.

the whole of euston station was evacuated at 5.30 this eve and all trains suspended whilst the fire brigade put out a 'small' fire. someone threw a fag into a discarded burger king paper bag.

i was called by my man at Liverpool Street who described seeing 10 cops chase a guy at full speed through the station.Aparently it was a serious deal, weapons were drawn. We presusme this fella had something in his bag he shouldnt have (drugs, nicked stuff maybe) and kicked off when the cops tried to search it. (there's LOTS of random bag checks today_

Anyways, after the shooting this am i think only an idiot is gonna
a) carry stuff in yer bag on the tube that you shouldn't
b) run away from a copper. you may just get shot.

but...surprisingly calm on the tube today.quite busy in the main stations too (which is nice)

btw, respect to old fella hirst 8)
