Hand luggage

I'm desperatly trying to contact easy-jet and all I get is an answering machine saying the same information that they have on their website, the joys of flying with a low cost company :?

I'm travelling with a big cam and my handbag. Easy-Jet website and all the new security policy says that you are only allowed to take with you a small handbag. Obviously my big cam doesn't fit in my handbag and the cam bag is too fit to put all the handbag stuff on it. Does anybody know if there is an exception for photographic material or will I have problems to pass throught security with handbag+cam bag? :?

Hmm - you should be ok - when I flew with easyjet there were loads of women with handbags as well as hand luggage.

Also it's mainly flying out of UK that's a big issue - when I came back from berlin right after the restrictions were put in place I took 2 bags (laptop and big weekender) straight on with me without checking it in.

The restrictions were initally from UK but they are now for flying from all EU plus a couple of European contries. :?
Anyway, I've decided to fit my passport, mobile, ipod, sunglasses and money in the cam bag and I'm sorted. :?

Hand luggage must be within EU guidelines of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm

My advice would be to get a cheap wheely bag and put the camera and your handbag in it.

Once through security you can take the handbag out....

Haha, how silly I feel after such an easy solution
Thanks JM, I have a back pack small enough to pass through security and big enough to fit my cam equipment and my handbag. Cheers

I just flew in and out of London with my computer bag as carry-on, no problem. It's slightly smaller than the EU standard size, but bigger than the reduced-size hand luggage they were allowing after that terrorism alert.

In other words, everyone is back to normal hand luggage size now.

There was, however, a sign in the airport on my way home about gels, creams, etc. You're limited to 100g containers. So, if you carry any lotion or stuff like that in your purse, you'd be better off sticking them in your checked luggage.

When I flew OUT of London a couple of months ago, in the lines waiting to go through the hand luggage check, the floor was littered with makeup, hand lotion, gels, perfume, nail polish etc etc...we had to kick it out of our way just to walk through... sure its gotten better now.

I brought my camera through with my hand luggage both in and out of the UK and had no problems...

Silvia id be very careful about putting any valueables in your bag and checking it in after my camera got stolen by some baggage handler in Edinburgh 2 months ago:evil:

As regards restrictions these new rules are ridicalous, your not allowed to bring any toiletries over 100ML in your hand luggage, makes a mockery of online check in  i was on a flight back from Glasgow this morning and the queues were big, give yourself plenty of time as well.
