Hand Luggage on Flights

We're off to Ibiza on Friday and dont want to have to check any luggage in if we can help it, but are we able to take shampoos, makeup, hair straightners in your hand luggage or will it be confiscated?

Has anyone flown lately and had any problems?

You'll probably find that the majority of make-up is defined as liquid and will need to be packed according to the above. I think that includes powder based make-up too.

not sure about the straighteners. Alot of things get classed as weapons including stupid designer keychains! :lol:

I was just answering this question in your e-mail :lol: There are new guidelines, you might want to double check but from what I remember is you can take liquids but they can only be in 100ml containers, then you have to put all your 100ml containers into a clear plastic bag that cannot be more than 1 litre......or something like that - anyway it's confusing so I'd either put them in your suitcase for check-in or buy whatever you need when you're thru security.

No that's the rules at the mo - first of all it was all liquids banned, now it is just limited. It's annoying I used to put all my toiletries etc in my hand luggage to get my weight allowance down and now I just shove them all in my suitcase and end up weighing excess weight :roll:

Lol! I was being impatient!! :lol: :roll: ;) sounds like a lot of hassle :? I can handle buying shampoo and toothpaste but I dont want to have to buy loads of makeup (not that I wear loads :roll: ) but Im presuming they dont have a clinique counter in airports! :roll:

So you reck straightners should be ok then?

Bummer! We dont want to have to check any luggage in you see, as we are only going for 4 days we have bags big enough and small enough to take on the plane, plus this saves valuable time as we wont have to wait for bloody conveyor belts to start moving in the hope of getting our luggage! :roll:

I guess you could buy all your make-up in Duty Free at the Clinique etc counters, then again that could be a very expensive trip to Duty Free :lol:

My hairdryer and straighteners were fine last time I flew at New Year.
 
We just flew from Heathrow a week ago.
- The 100 ml / clear plastic bag rule is still in effect.
- you can take lighters with you now (was a stupid rule anyway... you could buy a new lighter right after security!)
- One bag rule - there is a new rule about carrying only one bag with you through security, including a woman's purse :!: My wife had to stuff her camera bag inside her purse to go through.

Lol Im holding off on buying makeup till I get my makeover with Bobby Brown or someone, but Im in desperate need of foundation! So there is a clinique counter at London and Barcelona then?

So you had your hairdryer and that in your hand luggage?

Ok cheers for that. I always thought the one bag rule was the case. I got told to put my small handbag inside my record bag last time we flew :? I know they have to have tight security measures but it isnt half a pain :?

I don't know. That was the first time ever that we've flown (and we travel a lot) when they considered a purse to be a separate bag.

I've flown plenty of times with my laptop bag and separate camera bag too and never had a problem (luckily, I didn't have my camera along this time).

If it was a rule before, now they're enforcing it.

Yep there's Clinique (and every other make-up brand you could think of) at duty free airport. I took my haidryer and straighteners in hand luggage and no problems whatsoever.
 
sorry if this has been said, can't be bothered reading thread!

nothing bigger than 100ml is allowed, else they take it off you.

all makeup stuff is counted as liquid
 
I had all my makeup in my ordinary makeup bag going out of England but coming into England I had to put it all into a clear carrier bag...
 
dont forget; if you buy make-up at the airport, you'll still have the same problem on your return flight.
 
I would put all makeup in a clear bag
Put all other toiletries into main luggage
I had my hair straighteners in my hand luggage, no problem.
We even had a small stereo in our hand luggage and lots more interesting things 8O :lol:

Their main concerns are shampoo/deoderants, etc
