PSOE-Pacte complaint wastewater discharges at na Xamena
Hoses out of the back of a popular hotel in the area

R.L. | Eivissa | 29/08/2012
The municipal group-Pacte PSOE Sant Joan de Labritja asked the mayor to investigate
the dumping of sewage into the sea in the na Xamena,
where there is a well-known hotel establishment
.

The progressive spokesperson in the Consistory, Jose Luis Rodriguez, has received
numerous complaints from fishermen and sailors, who have long observed
that wastewater discharged causing a greenish stain on the rocks and in the sea
.
On the rocks two pipes down to the sea and one of them is clearly seen pouring water.
Rodriguez himself was in the area yesterday and found that it is water that "smells bad
and is likely to be contaminanted."

'Know if the City Council is aware of the installation of these pipes and these discharges,
so we asked the mayor, Antonio Mari, Ratchet, who investigate and take action, "...

Protected Area
Jose Luis Rodriguez recalled that the mayor is also vice president of the Consell,
so that you have more ability to act to control these things.
"It's unbelievable that a facility can afford and in a protected area like no one is Amunts act,
neither the Council nor the Consell and the demarcation of Costas' he explained.

PSOE spokesman recalled that is Amunts Pacte are some of the natural areas preserved
best values on the island, so that they can not afford aggression "of any kind".

"Both the land area, which has already suffered destruction by fire, as the marine,
who also suffers contamination, must be protected to the fullest
," said Rodriguez ..

"The spill caused a greenish stain on the rocks and sea water looks dirty.
It causes a very strong smell, this is an environmental crime
, "...

He said he had received numerous complaints about this situation that he considered criminal,
for damage that can cause to the marine environment.
The complaints came from one part of a group of canoeists who have recently visited the area
and other fishermen who maintain that this release is not new, but has been going on for years

not only the hotel but some of the villas at the cliff have these suspicious pipes !

Well we won't be staying there for another 2 years so hopefully it will get sorted maybe?

We are hopefully going to pop over late October this year to sort some things out maybe we could do a poo check then see how apparent the poo is :(

I don't see much point in saying I'm not staying there if it doesn't affect me when it seems a lot of other places are doing it too! Walking past the Bahamas hotel in pdb every night was traumatic enough the stink coming from the cess pit or whatever it was, although I don't think that was their fault.

Thanks for the info SSK :)

... we could do a poo check ...

 ffs -
do NOT make the "poo check" while kimajy is coming along with his kayak 8O 8O

water-quality there on some days in main season dubious -
especially the closer to figueretas/ibiza town you go.
just put goggles on and take a look under water !
probably due to capacity overload of sewage treatment plants ?!

Jojo as I'll be there in 2 weeks time I'll see what I can find out for you about the rates. What time of year are you planning on going?

if he is kayaking past maybe he could do the poo check for me :D

The smell was more down the other end of pdb this year I'm pretty sure the Bahamas hotel will be dishing out some refunds because the area adjacent to the restaraunt and some people's balconies smelled so bad it was impossible to breath without heaving so hard youd bring your lungs up! We put plastic bags over our breathing apparatus to walk past this area which is probably pretty dangerous too! I think there may have been some fault with the system in that area (or lack of one) this year because 2 drain covers outside our room at the palm beach hotel were looking like they were about to burst and the sink in our room seemed blocked. Within 5 minutes of us noticing this there was water shooting out of the drain outside and live turds flying about everywhere! Fortunately maintenance sorted it straight away but it was only by chance that we went back to our room at that time, had we not that crap would have been seeping into our room :O !!

SSK that'd be great! we aren't going for another 2 years but it would be at the end of June. The maximum well want to stay is 2 nights but we'd want to know the prices of the real nice rooms because it's a very special occassion :)

I am stopping here for 1 night later this month. It cost 480.00 € for a double standard room, includes 45 mins in the spa pool thingy, evening meal and breakfast.

Normally wouldnt spend this much but it is for my honeymoon.

The last thing I would be doing is sticking my head under the water there, goggles or no goggles !!

Best places to go kayak are where there are no dwellings remotely nearby / the uninhabited offshore islands.

... Hacienda has always been ridiculously expensive for what it is - stayed for quite a few days many years ago when it was a Relais & Chateaux (maybe it still is - haven't checked) - and was desperate to get out by the end of it. Couple of nights is probably about right.

Actually it's not as much of a rip-off now as it used to be after all the refurbing .. but if the wind gets blowing up there it can be freezing and quite eerie !!

were at least some of these turds flying via nassaubeach :?: :p

:) Anyone know what the price of the best room is per night? I.e. the one with the jacuzzi overlooking the clifftop? I'd probably rather stay there one night than stay in a cheaper 1 for 2 nights if u can only use the spas for a very short period

Hi Jojo, if you want to PM me an email address I'll gladly forward you all the prices.
I managed to get a peep of a room from a kind chamber maid whilst in the hotel area. From what I saw it is lovely but not total luxury, it would definitely benefit from some maintenance. That said it was a superior double and not a suite.
We had a fantastic meal there, the service was fabulous and the setting is truly magical.
The cascades and spa treatments we had were also something special
We're going to book 1 night only. The drive alone is pretty unforgettable by the way although we did it by taxi in the end.

We drove up past it and looked through the fence you are right the drive is very scarey indeed it's so high up! But what a view! I could just make out one of the balcony jacuzzis through the trees. I will send u my add then as ive had no reply from them :)

Why can't they just pay to install some cesspits like everyone else has to if there's no mains discharge network ? !! Even better a treatment unit which converts the poo and wee into sanitized compost that they can use to grow some vegetables for the restaurant.

Ewwwww is that even possible? If so I'm never eating another vegetable:lol:

Yes it's quite common in some developing countries and the resulting treated "manure" is safe, odourless and a welcome addition to the thin soils it's often added to.
