I know it would be best to do something every day, but it's not sustainable for me, (my 'other' career means I need time in the evenings to do the music thing), so I find going every other day is a good compromise. Plus I'm genetically 'gifted' with very stocky legs so I don't need to do any weights for the lower half.
I always do weights first, to ensure I'm lifting as much as I can, then cardio in the form of the treadmill for the remainder of the session.
I'll definitely start doing some other weight training exercises soon though - maybe doing those seated dumbell presses instead of incline bench. It's hard to do weights to failure without a gym partner though
