Guilty Pleasures?

Yeah, an excellent night! My first time at Las Dalias/Akasha. Great crowd and room to dance. Really enjoyed the outdoor session.

A few I remember: it kicking off when he played Run DMC - It's Like That (Raxon Edit). DJ Rolando – Knights Of The Jaguar went down well. And Madonna, La Isla Bonita! :D

I’m glad you’ve listed that run DMC track, we hoped to find that one. Also we went outside for a bit of fresh air and heard knights of the Jaguar so went straight back in! Glad he finished off outside with Atlas, seems to be a favourite of his.

This is not meant to be a dissing and it's just my observation BTW, I also get that those tunes are obviously crowd pleasers but looks like Sven has been playing the same stuff in the last 2 years or so, I'm guessing Bicep's "Atlas" and Talk Talk "It's my life" got an airing too? 😉

Like I said I wasn't criticising Sven and his music choices at all, I saw him already twice this summer and I'm going to see him again next Wednesday at Saga which I'm really looking forward to it as I'm curious to hear what he's going to play like there. it's just that his closing numbers are getting a bit predictable, then again people seem to lap it up every time so maybe that's why.

I agree, I had the same feeling in May after seeing him twice in 2023.

I guess it depends what mood you're in and how the tracks are brought in. I think thrre is a place for occasional classics to get a cheer but should ideally be music you've long forgotten about or something familiar with an unexpected edit/twist. With something like Madonna everyone knows the hits which is why you need to dig deeper otherwise it just looks like lazy wedding fodder.
