(I was keeping a beady eye on my last couple of holidays) o_O

Stayed here a few years back, try and not get a room over the carpark/main entrance on level 1 as its noisey (thats where i ended up on my last stay here), as is level 1 on the back which over looks the large aircon units for the dining rooms.

Good hotel though and not far from the beach, its very easy to sneak in your own drinks and stuff around the pool as there is a separate gate that is next to the pool that opens onto the main street so you dont have to go through reception.

They've changed that now. It's locked during day (for security and privacy reasons) and only open from 7pm onwards.

That being said it still looked easy to sneak things in. Short of setting up a homemade bbq or bar then it's fine.

Yeah we always had a bottle of water with us and some people had their snacks - discreetly though.

The hotel staff throughout are spot on and work really hard, they are friendly and with no anti-Brit attitude (which can be apparent in some hotels).

For us it felt like a form of gratitude to buy our drinks and snacks from the bar.

The food and drinks are reasonable and well delivered.

The iced coffee is lovely as well as the Mojitos & Pina Colladas too.

In addition my fiancée misplaced her engagement ring in the room somewhere. We looked high and low and conceded it was lost. We mentioned it as we checked out this morning and 20 mins later they called to say they had found it.

Finally we had bed and breakfast which was so worth it. The selection and quality of this is fantastic too.

We leave at 10 tonight so I may get to try their Dinner.

Wifi is free and I strong and quick - good enough for some basic streaming both in the rooms and in the pool area.

We got the room requirements we requested too.

Recommend this hotel 100%

Little bit more to add:

They have code locked individual suitcase storage for the day you leave and they provide shower rooms with towels and any sort of hair/body soap you need.

Couple of questions:

How far is the nearest bus station from the hotel?/ Is there some kind of laundry service?

Bus station: About ten minutes walk. Down near the egg.

Laundry: Yes they do but I've not had to use before so can't comment on prices or the quality etc.

Stayed at the Gran Sol in 2015 - the owners are a British and Spanish couple. One of the nicest hotels in San Antonio - room was big with great air con and wifi. The food a breakfast and dinner was wonderful. They had flao at the dessert bar, the only time I ever saw it at a hotel buffet.
