good idea?

£60k is an awful lot to spend in Ibiza for a season.

i spent the sum total of £100 for each of my summers in ibiza (the cost of a 1 way flight out there)..........and i had the time of my life.

why you would need 60k to do it??

She didnt say she'd spend the £60k in Ibiza.. she said she'd do a season in Ibiza, then go travelling, then set up home somewhere different.

Or if she did mean to spend it all on Ibiza then that is living it up Puff Daddy stylee!

If you want to do it and there are no other people that this would affect (other than missing you)

I'd say - go for it

if you do - good luck to you :D

Yes, she did.

I re-read it and you're right. Must be suffering from "Thread Fatigue".:lol:

Well, in that case I don't know what the fuss is about..:p

Not if you have an adequate insurance policy.

but you don't need an insurance policy to protect your memories. ;)

Still, I know people who've had their house burn down, had break-ins, and many valuables canot be replaced even with a good insurance policy.

8O You make it sound like popping out to the shops!

Ibiza ain't cheap for any of us...I'm at least £800 down from my last jaunt.

ok... you save on the trans-atlantic flight... and you could go over for a mini 5 day holiday... not worth it for me to fly all that way for an opening or closing long weekend!

Do you think it is a good idea to sell your house (worth about £60,000 profit) to fund a season in ibiza, go travelling and then start anew somewhere like manchester? Belfast is boring the tits off me and ive no job here so....

yes you only live once !!!
Sell the house, Don`t even think about renting, 1 bad tenant, 6 month`s or if you are not in the country maybe much longer, around 10 grand to get them out and a pile of shi* to clean up after,
Put the money in an offshore account to get a better rate, then come to Ibiza with the idea of working and earning a reasonable living (you also get to meet lots of people in a different way to being a tourist) with the comfort of knowing you have back up cash if it all go`s pear shaped,
Have a good one
Tim

well i reckon go for it
life is for living
and travelling is up there with some of the best experiences that life has to offer ;o)
get your equity out put a chunk aside for when you want to start anew somewhere - tho there are loads better places than manchester! the world is your oyster
get to ibiza for a season, do some work so not spending too much dosh
then when the season dies head off travelling
you could do most of south america, asia, and pacific countries on peanuts, cheap as chips :D:D and still eat and live like a queen!!

Can you move in with your parents until next summer?

I would sell up and keep your money. Save like mad until next summer and go travelling!

Then decide what to do once you get back! :)

why not do what i did. get a job abroad. you'll soon have had a bellyful of other 'exotic' cultures AND you'll be wadded with cash!

My question(s) to you Sir, is how easy is it for a non Spanish speaking person to get a job that lasts for more than "the season"

And where can you find a reasonably habitable property for £60000 in ibiza?

whoops, confusion reigns.

my job abroad was when i was a thrusting young 20 something when i went off to the land of sand to seek fortune and fortune.

my move to ibiza saw me as a grumpy jaded cynic with no job and just enough money to last a few months. however within only 6 months of being here i got part time temporary employment teaching english (i'd done a tefl course in manchester) a few months later i was offered permanent full time teaching which i did for 8 years. during that time i wrote articles for the ibiza sun and big chief spotlight asked me to write some things for the site. my wife, who had been commuting back and forth to england for about 6 or 7 years, now works here too so i've been able to pack in teaching.

60 grand won't get you a place here but you could do what we did, get an enormous mortgage to buy your dream home.
