Good idea to rent an auto? Drive or cab to the clubs?

I'm visiting Ibiza for my first time and would like to do as much as possible during my short stay. I think it may be worth renting a car to get around. I am a bit concerned about driving at night though. Are the authorities extra critical during the am hours?

Thanks for any advice!

For day time to explore the island yes. But at night be careful. Its best just to go by taxi to a club, no worries this way.

Great for the day time: most of the best parts of the island are reachable only by car...then foot.
For night time leave the car at home. Too many people driving around fu*ked out of their heads already. 8O
Its a major problem in Ibiza, especially on the San An- Ibiza town road.
It scares me the amount of cars sitting in car parks outside some of the clubs: especially Amnesia and Priviledge: that a lot of mullered drivers!

A car is good to see the North of the island but you can reach anywhere of interest in the South by bus. If you stay in San An, Playa d'en Bossa or the town you have at least 2 clubs within walking distance and the rest can be reached by bus. The licensed white taxis are fine but a bit expensive if you don't fill it, and stay well away from the illegal ones.

The states I've seen some people in staggering out of Space and into a car and driving off is frightening. It annoys me that more isn't done to clamp down on this as it's so blatent.

Hoping to rent a car this year and see abit more of the island

Me too as I didn't get a chance to last year (we were planning on hiring in early September when the flood occured)

But definitely wouldn't take it out clubbing with me!

The Guardia sometimes stop cars on the San An- Ibiza Town road, much to the dismay of workers trying to get to work on time.
One of the cleaners in our hotel last year, was stopped 3 times in a week.
Little Maria doing drugs?!?
