I was actually very fortunate,,,I stayed during the Hurricane (insane) was definitely a wild time to say the least. My Apt did fine as did both my parents houses but I worked at the Beau Rivage Casino Resort which took major damage 30ft of water with 30 ft waves....60 ft of water...nuts!

Had to relocate to another property where Im just biding my time and Im very bored and thought it be fun to mess with music since I enjoy it so much.

So these are the things you guys recommend?

if I could figure how to post pictures Id post them...I suck at it but I have over 300 Hurricane pics....

Forgot to answer part of your question...I live up in North Mississippi near Memphis Tennessee if anyone knows. Btw...if you never come to Memphis...you arent missing anything....I promise!

For mixing software, check the Music forum where there's a discussion of Ableton. DJ Soulman insists it is "all dat".

So you lived down on the Gulf coast? What happened to your home? Where are you staying now?

Hmm, I'd say for a beginner go for Visiosonics 'old' PCDJ Red version 5.2 .......and only that version. I've used that gigging every weekend for 4 years. Out of production now but I'm sure you'll 'find it' on the net. Absolutely rock solid. Their follow up versions are flaky depending on the computer they're running on.

Abelton is perhaps a bit advanced for a beginner, and not so easily 'available' on the net. :?

Glad your homes escaped damage. That's the most important thing.

I've always wanted to visit Memphis... I've been to Nashville and Knoxville but never to "the home of Elvis". I'm not so much interested in Graceland, mind you, but I guess I've seen enough of the town in movies to be interested.

While we are on the topic, can someone please, please, please give me their reviews on the CMX-3000. On paper the specs seem to be the same as the CDJ-1000.

Memphis isnt bad...I just thought there would be way more then what there was....

of course the RENDEVOUZ BAR-B-QUE is outstanding!! Great restaurant....but after that....so so
